I don't know what you're smoking but what they've shown looks a ton more fun that spewing septic on buildings or mindlessly running around killing people in a cop outfit.
would of rather had this stay as an expansion, the size of the city map and only one city seems small if you're going to save the world (minus going to a large space ship)
I just hope there is more to do. The last one, it was basically finishing the main story and that's all. It was kind of a let down. This one seems like they added a lot more things, that I hope just aren't stuck in the campaign.
Been there, done that.
If it was more like SR2 with balanced optional wackyness/seriousness and less like SR3 "everythin wacky!" ADHD and forced wacky ness then I wouldn't complain. [editline]3rd July 2013[/editline] It doesn't even look like the crime sandbox Saints Row used to be. It looks like a complete joke.

[editline]3rd July 2013[/editline] Because in case you aren't paying attention, it was said that the story is as serious if not more than any other Saints game.
I really hope Cyber steelport is minimal I'm sick of fucking steelport, Its tiny and boring and I just don't want to be in that place anymore
Serious? You are a murdering president and aliens come to earth.
How is that 'wacky' and 'lolrandum' in any way? Being the president is part of story continuity (gang banger, gang leader, celebrities, president) and every other game would be able to get away with aliens attacking.
How?
In pre-Saints Row 3 games you play as a gangster with a decent storyline and the ability to play the game seriously OR wacky. It was actually funny too. Now everything is wacky and lolrandom, the story is corny and stupid. The jokes are something only a 10 year will chuckle too. I mean, you went from a scary cold blooded gangbanger to the fucking president fighting aliens shouting shitty one liners. Imagine if they did this shit to Half Life or any other respectable game. It completely fixes every sin the 3 had committed. But if you'd rather be stuck with a GTA clone, be my guest. I'll enjoy this game a lot.
I really hope Cyber steelport is minimal I'm sick of fucking steelport, Its tiny and boring and I just don't want to be in that place anymore
IdolNinja mentioned that they were adding many places to see in Steelport. A lot of new interiors to be in is just what Steelport needs.

But I guess every crime sandbox is a gta clone to you. I've done my research, it don't look like they going to fix much except slab old characters in but keeping it's insane story.
Serious? You are a murdering president and aliens come to earth.
So? A wacky setting/world can still have a serious story.
I wonder if that note about THQ being assholes about SRTT DLC explains why Relic, who before DoW2 dealt in expansion packs, high-quality ones at that, managed to put together $78 worth of DLC for DoW2 and already racked up $40 for CoH2. On topic SR4 looks fun and I don't see what is wrong with a game cutting loose and being silly. Only issue I still have a problem with is having to walk around the same city all over again.
Serious? You are a murdering president and aliens come to earth.
the premise is wacky but they're gonna be playing the story completely straight this time around; more attention has been given to the narrative. at a glance it seems wacky but the story should be sr2 caliber in terms of drama and obligatory pathos.
I agree with you, my knee jerk reaction was "fucking rehashing SRTT and packing that last DLC into a new game" but as i've read more about it and seen more, it seems like it'll be a pretty solid game.
me too, i wasnt sure that it was going to be able to bring enough to the table to justify a purchase; i was worried that if it wound up being too similar to SRTT it would have been boring. it was looking to be that way until i heard more from idolninja and especially hearing from e3. ive seen the way the game plays; i want more.

They ruined the original story of SRTT because they thought it would be too violent and depressing. Originally Gat [sp]was supposed to die a hero's death and get stabbed over 10 times. We were supposed to see ALL of it.[/sp] THQ said no because apparently it was too dark. On top of that, there was supposed to be a sub plot that explored Shaundi going through survivor's guilt after [sp]Gat's death.[/sp] Again, THQ said it was too dark and Volition had to cut it. Also, Killbane was originally supposed to dirty bomb Stillwater and kill everyone in the entire city. That was to make fans of SR1 and SR2 hate Killbane that much more. Again, THQ said no because it was too dark. Volition know how to merge whacky and dark shit, but THQ was holding them back. Hopefully Deep Silver is granting them more creative freedom and we'll see a very deep story.

I wonder why they're making so many jokes about ME. Was Keith David on-board before or after they wrote it?
Not in Australia we won't
SRIV was banned in Australia because of something else that goes in very deep... http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/06/26/alien-anal-probe-causes-saints-row-iv-ban

He was to join up with the Syndicate and you would have had to face off against him in a dramatic confrontation.[/sp]

That was apparently the first draft of the story and Volition changed their minds and thought killing off Gat would be more dramatic. Unfortunately THQ shot down the execution of said idea.
Humor for 12 year olds.
