• Doom 4 Before The Reboot - "Call of Doom"

A good basic summary of what we know about the original Doom 4 contained in one place: There's also some concept art too, for some reason this hasn't made the rounds quite as well as the footage:
Thank god it was scraped
I may not like the advertising direction and certain little choices here and there with Doom 4, but it's a thousand times better than what looked to be Homefront / Call of Duty with demons.
If id had actually released the first round as a polished game, I think the only problem I'd have had with it was "Doom" being attached to the title, because yeah, that belongs in the Doom franchise about as much as the torture scenes from the new Wolf games would belong in a Commander Keen reboot. It looked kind of generic, but if they'd actually created an original IP for it instead of basically borrowing the Doom name as a replacement for developing an IP at all, it probably would've looked less generic.
exactly what gaming needed. Another CoD clone.
was that seriously the title
was that seriously the title
Of course it was.
Of course it was.
wasnt questioning you lol I DONT BELIEVE YOU!!
Actually the concept art is cool for something not doom
what kills me the most is I wanna see what the demons from this iteration looked like I'm so damn curious it burns
I wouldn't mind call of doom being a DLC for Doom 4, as a side thing. It's not a horrible idea, but should definitely be a side thing, completely non-canon.
It's not a horrible idea, but should definitely be a side thing, completely non-canon.
well it totally could be canon since earth gets fucked up in doom 2. the best way to go about it would have the characters in this game never even see the doomguy and just fight to survive and get off planet (like in doom 2) without really doing anything important to actually fight the demons. then have the real deal game be what doomguy is doing
I can understand why it was cancelled but the idea of a spinoff series of the Doom universe where it shows it from a survivors perspective and not the Doomguy marine isn't a bad concept, like said though their timeline is all screwed up for what they had, Doom's universe has always taken place in a science fiction universe so a modern day setting doesn't make sense. If they re-did the idea with a more sci-fi style, futurize the cities and go full Homefront where the end goal is to escape the planet then I honestly don't see anything against maybe coming back to the idea. Hell the Doom universe is just asking to be expanded, but at the same time does it need to be? Eitherway I wouldn't mind seeing a more gritty side to a Doom game, 3 nailed that feeling in a lot of places but the newest one is just plain good old rip and tear from what I've seen.
The only thing i liked about this was that it was set on Earth like Doom 2. I really hope that if this Doom will be succesfull we'll get a "Hell on Earth" sequel
I still hope they some day make a good doom 2 recreation. Doom 2 itself was already really cool with the earth becoming more and more hellish and doomguy saving the humanity. There is nothing wrong with doom 2! It even brought the supershotgun to the entire franchise.
Wrong decision. Instead of pushing it as Doom spinoff they could make it into RAGE 2.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/5N8Mg1P.jpg[/t] BLOOD FOUNTAIN that'd be my favorite level
I really wouldn't mind a battlefield like game about demons taking over the earth to be honest, would be fun to see a mix between modern military fps and fantasy. Just wouldn't call it DOOM though.
