• JESUS CHRIST AGAIN? U.S drone crashes in Seychelles - embassy

[release] Dec 13 (Reuters) - A U.S. drone aircraft crashed at Seychelles International Airport on Tuesday, the U.S. embassy in Mauritius said. "A U.S. Air Force remote-piloted MQ-9 crashed at the Seychelles International Airport in Mahe. The MQ-9 was not armed and no injuries were reported," the embassy said in a statement. The Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) confirmed the incident and said that the plane was on a "routine patrol" and had crashed because of mechanical failure. The U.S. embassy did not comment on the plane's mission and said that the cause of the crash was unknown. Iran announced on Dec. 4 it had downed a U.S. drone in the eastern part of the country, near Afghanistan. It has since shown the plane on television and said it is close to cracking its technological secrets. slightly more specific cause of crash
Lina Laurence of Seychelles’ civilian aviation authority said the drone developed engine problems minutes into its flight and needed to land as soon as possible Tuesday morning. “But due to its accelerated landing speed, the aircraft was unable to stop before the runway’s end,” Laurence said.
They need an auto-detonate button
When I read the title at first I thought it was about the return of christ Also is this drone more hi-tech than the last?
They need an auto-detonate button
So they can kill/injure innocent civilians that walk up to the wreckage to see what it was?
They need an auto-detonate button
I'm not sure what purpose that could have served in this instance?
This doesn't appear to be the US spying this time, training perhaps?
This doesn't appear to be the US spying this time, training perhaps?
The US runs unmanned aerial patrols out of Seychelles to stop piracy (the ship kind - using MQ-9s to combat internet piracy is a bit overkill). They've been doing it for a few years.
Third times the charm as they say...
using MQ-9s to combat internet piracy is a bit overkill
The RIAA begs to differ :v:
You know.. im thinking all of these crashed spy drones are part of some us operation of some sort you know? heh.
last month wasn't there an article about a drone having a trojan that reappeared even after reformatting? I have a feeling that this is related.
This year is just an all around fail for America. Why am I going back home in a week.
The only reason this is getting reported is because of the recent news of the drone in Iran... Greater scrutiny means the media sharks are willing to take any scraps they can, even routine crap like this.

As promising as they are, we've hardly perfected the technology, and mechanical, electrical, and operator failures are very common.
someones getting fired
You know.. im thinking all of these crashed spy drones are part of some us operation of some sort you know? heh.
Except it's not a spy drone? This drone was on routine patrol. Probably just a standard surveillance one at that since it wasn't armed. Spy drone implies we don't want anyone to know about it and it is 'behind enemy lines'. A Reaper is exactly the kind of drone we would freak out about if it got lost to a country like Iran.
I wonder what's gonna happen next week.
Anyone else getting the feeling we'll be getting a lot more reports of drone crashes not because they're occurring more often, but because they're the "in" thing to report?
Drones go down all the time. It's surprising considering how much of your tax goes towards them.
US drones go down more often than some chick who gives a lot of blowjobs. /I had the beginnings of the joke but lost my way at the end
I don't understand why a drone would fail more than a manned aircraft. Nor do you have the complex internals of an automated/remote aircraft.
I wonder if they're doing this on purpose
They need an auto-detonate button
Ever heard of the Battle of Mogadishu? If you've heard of Black Hawk Down, you'll know what it is, but anyways, when the helicopters were downed, the civilians crowded around to see what it was (and they also scavenged it, but that was in Somalia where they needed resources). If it had a self-destruct feature it'd kill innocent people. Same goes for these Drones.

The blackhawks shot down that day were mobbed by militants who were attempting to murder the crew and subsequently blown up by rescue teams. It is pretty much standard procedure to rig aircraft to explode when abandoning them. Particularly nightstalker stuff, as it is often heavily modified. Although I agree that an auto self destruct would be a bad idea.
All these crashes are leading up to something. Think of it as a fuse. In about two months, the UAV Mothership will crash into that bigass monument in Tehran turning it into a bigass pile of rubble. The Mothership contains thousands of small Nano-Mericans that will then work into creating a coup in favor of the US government in hopes that Iran will become our next state. Kish Island will be Obama's Bedroom and Dictorial palace once he rules the world with the help of the Nano-Mericans.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=30a_1308591560 Here's a good visual example of what I was saying before (it's just Somali civilians tearing apart one of the Black Hawks, no violence).
Remember earlier this year when the Chinese copy of one of these went down and everyone said how shit the Chinese were at making aircraft?
