Donald Trump and Mike Pence approval ratings hit new low in latest Fox News poll
Donald Trump has hit a new low job approval rating of just 40 per cent.
Most of the voters that approve of the job Mr Trump is doing are white men. Of that bloc, only 28 per cent “strongly approve” of his performance in the White House.
This is down from 45 per cent in the same poll conducted in April.
I was under the impression that Trump had already dipped into the 30's at one point. A March 29th poll from Gallup placed him at 35%. Is this just a new low for Fox polls, which are likely to over represent right wing viewership?

Every poll needs to be taken with a grain of salt. The demographics are all different. This is probably why original polls saw Hillary winning by a landslide, when they ignored the demographics from widwestern states.
Digging around a bit more, it looks like 538's poll conglomerates place his actual approval rating at about 39.3%. So, I guess this poll actually is actually well within the margin of error. Interesting.

yes, this is a new low for fox polls, not gallup polls

From what I understand, the failure of the polls there came from the interpretation, not the data. Trump actually managed to come within the projected margin of error on nearly every poll. He had a very slim path to victory, which led a lot of pollsters to make some false assumptions about his odds and overlook what should have been some obvious conditions that could have changed things. At the end of day, though, there was a path to victory, slim as it may have been, and down it Trump walked.
The reason I continue to like 538 so much for data driven political analysis is that it was a constant voice of caution warning the pollsters in other major media entities not to ignore that Trump did have a realistic path to victory. They outlined the conditions that would have to be met for Trump to win, and sure enough, all of them came to pass.

afaik Fox polls are largely nonpartisan and don't tend to have big peaks or nadirs like other pollsters. so when he hits a new low with them it's both a big deal in itself and also probably gonna stay like that for a little while

We suffered enough pain over the last 8 years, don't worry about it. we voted for the right guy. He is a spoiled child, but he put a conservative on the Supreme Court, and will likely put at least one more there. So, if for no other reason, he was the right choice.
Well, Fox news has finally bit the big one and followed all the non news: MSNBC, CNN< and now FOX. Nothing to see anyplace anymore.
Comments are always gonna be from the extremes. Most average people read this and just say "okay" and move on with their day.

The poll is also done jointly through two research companies. FiveThirtyEight gives them an "A" grade (on an A+ to F scale) for methodology and actually rates their bias as ever so slightly left.
That even FOX NEWS shows that the approval rating is shit (even if they make an excuse for it) says a lot about how Trump is doing.

Fox News analyst Howard Kurtz, who posted the poll, is talking about the comments they received after posting this, with some people saying Fox News is now FAKE NEWS.
I thought it was interesting that they'd post this, considering they usually brush over these types of things.

Wow, even Fox News is calling out Trump supporters for living in an echo chamber. :wideeye:

you could be thinking of the disapproval rating

I find it absolutely poetic that Fox News is getting burnt by the monster they created
The troubling thing here is that we no longer agree on a common set of facts. Conservatives and liberals are increasingly in their own silos, turning to their own opinionated media sources and constructing their Facebook and Twitter feeds the same way.
His disapproval rating has never been as low as 35% lol.

Turns out the truth offends people who religiously watch Fox News. Who would ever have guessed?

the day trump turns on fox news is the day he signs his death warrant

No, that was because of bad polling, not just demographics. When you see the polls conducted by those recommended by 538, they correctly predicted a tight race between Trump and Hillary.
