Valve today launched the Steam Discovery Update, which introduces new functionality and features designed to optimize the Steam shopping experience as the number of new titles on Steam increases.
In the past nine months, Steam has added over 1,300 new titles and grown to over 100 million active accounts. Designed to meet the demands of this growth, the Steam Discovery Update delivers a smarter Home page, offering recommendations based on past purchases, recent playtime, and recommendations by friends.
Steam Search has also been updated with extremely detailed filters. And a new feature called Curators allows anyone to become a taste maker and build a following.
OH HEY it adds the ability to pick what you want in your different things on the front page aka you can toggle off early access on front page
1,300 new titles
I wouldn't consider 3/4 of those as titles though...
theres some color banding on some (many) pages
it doesnt look good (it looks bad)
Jesus, 100 million active accounts? What qualifies "active" though? Once a month?
Really blue my mind.
Cool. Not that big of a deal except for the filters. Most people know what game their going to buy before-hand, so I don't think smarter game recommendations will be that huge. That, or people just see what's on sale.
why is everything so blue? You would think it would be green to keep with the library changes.
I really like the new look. I hope they change it though / Steam's UI to suit what they want it to look lke.
I actually really like it! It's added some features I've wanted in the storefront for a while, and blue being my favourite colour helps too.
They finally let you go down past the top ten most popular in free to play yess....
Edit: wait, shit buggy as fuck nevermind :v:
Over 100,000,000 people and I'm number 250,887...
Jeez, it looks really awful. Blue on Blue on Blue on Blue on Black isn't that great.
Also I was hoping this would let me move stuff around but I guess not.
They replaced the new games tab with a popular new games tab.
No more junk games on the front page

It is to keep with big picture is my guess
Still stuck with all that wasted space.
blue is better than green anyways
don't agree with this post though, because it's the color green
fuck green
Still stuck with all that wasted space.
idk, imho I'd rather have clean wasted space than clutter
not that it was cluttered!
Can I pay for my game to show up to more customers?
Nope. You focus on making a compelling, interesting, and unique game, and Steam will work out the best places to feature your game based on customers’ interests, preferences, and feedback.
:yay:
I'm liking it, the Weeklong Deal's page doesn't put the games in a random order anymore everytime you go back to the page!
The color choices are awful. It's like grayscale with cool color tone. It's like something you'd see during a special occasion, not as default style.

Well now you don't have to sift through all the store items to find all the JRPGs you want!
There's such an odd mix of pages updated with this. The store pages are updated, but the Wishlist and Account pages still uses the old style. The workshop pages for games have been updated, but the main workshop page hasn't. And they pretty much didn't even touch any of pages related to profiles, but some of the community pages have been updated.
Like the Community Activity page. I think they forgot to check it on 1920x1080 screens:

I noticed that Rome II's page isn't updated to this yet for some reason.

yes obviously I mean they could look at your purchase habits and discover that you're pregnant for example
just like target does
I'm not sure how they decided that this looks good, though.

It's a mess of colors and gradients and that's bad.

Outside of bigger youtubers and gaming websites making their own collections, I suspect not.

It's going to be as much of a joke as the tag system
