On orders from a judge, Gov. Scott Walker on Friday released emails showing he wanted to simplify guiding principles for state universities last year as part of a sweeping higher education proposal that would have dropped the long-standing Wisconsin Idea from their mission statement.
Seriously fuck this guy. The Wisconsin Idea goes all the way back to the height of the Progressive Era. To remove it would be an absolute fucking travesty and an abolishment of basically the only thing Wisconsin did that was actually good.
Walker kept the records from the public for more than a year, but decided not to appeal Friday's decision and released 82 pages of emails.
For a time, the GOP governor contended the changes to the University of Wisconsin System's mission statement constituted a "drafting error," but the emails released Friday once again showed his office had been apprised of the proposed changes before they were formally introduced.
aka Governor Scott Walker is a shameless lying cunt who has to be forced by a judge to be honest with his electorate.
Sounds like Erdogan
What was he trying to change? I saw stuff about open record laws and appointing board members.
Sounds like Erdogan
He's just a piece of human garbage; Bible-beating Baptist (his dad was a minister), hates gays, doesn't believe in climate change and is against economic tactics that try to address it, opposes abortion without exception, thinks private and religious schools should be publicly funded, etc. Basically the last person any intelligent human being would ever want to be in politics making serious decisions about... well, anything really-- let alone an entire state. Also, he's a big fan of that "right to work" bullshit.
This kind of behavior doesn't surprise me at all. He needs to be gotten rid of. Again, he's got no business being in politics.

More or less privatizing University of Wisconsin.
[editline]a[/editline]
More or less destroying Wisconsin's public education institutions and unions. Walker has been disastrous compared to their rival Minnesota
That too.

That's Scott, Hes a dick!
yet somehow we didn't manage to recall him
yet somehow we didn't manage to recall him
God I can't wait until 2018.
yet somehow we didn't manage to recall him
IIRC, he outraised his Democratic opponent 7:1, with 90% of that money coming from out of state. Republicans nationwide saw the recall effort as a prime opportunity to stick it to organized labor and they weren't going to let the voters of Wisconsin get in the way.

More like the American Tony Abbott
From what I'm reading, The Wisconsin Idea basically aimed to beef up public education for not only school aged K-12 by means of the UW system but for all Wisconsin citizens through means of a plethora of summer and out of class programs.
Why the fuck does he want to get rid of this? The American education system is a joke by and large, and this seems to be one thing that's trying to raise the bar.
Everyone I know hates Scott Walker. He graduated from my high school and we're all fairly embarrassed.

Because the more educated you are the easier it is to see through the Republican Party's bullshit.
I love comparing Minnesota to Wisconsin. Very similar states, except Wisconsin went right and Minnesota keeps going left. Post-recession, MN's unemployment rate has dropped, it's rapidly catching up to WI on number of jobs, it has a $9 minimum wage compared to Wisconsin's $7.25, it's GDP over Wisconsin has almost doubled since 2008, it has stronger education and health services across the board, and both states share almost all of their major industries.
Walker's Wisconsin is a case study in how laissez-faire, anti-regulation, pro-business, anti-worker's rights economic policies can crash a state into the ground. Minnesota has leapt past Wisconsin, even though it was behind it in most statistics 20 years ago. The only major difference between the two states is policy - they're both very homogenous, both focus on the same industries, yet somehow MN's more liberal economic policies have catapulted it past Wisconsin because Walker shot the state in the foot and then refused to use the government to stop the bleeding.
