The Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front issued this photo of a member with Mehmet Selim Kiraz, a prosecutor abducted in Istanbul on Tuesday.
ISTANBUL — Members of a Turkish leftist terrorist group prominent during the Cold War managed to slip through tight security at Istanbul’s main courthouse Tuesday afternoon to take a well-known prosecutor hostage, the police said. Holding him at gunpoint, the group threatened to kill him if its demands were not met.
With reports of gunshots being heard, Turkish special forces swarmed the court building, and negotiations with the hostage takers were continuing by late afternoon. The militants are demanding justice in the death of a teenage boy after antigovernment protests nearly two years ago, according to a statement on a website affiliated with the group. The prosecutor they abducted was overseeing that case.
“We are working to bring the incident to an end without anyone getting hurt,” Selami Altinok, Istanbul’s police chief, said in a statement carried on Turkish television. “Negotiators are talking to the captors and we hope this incident will come to an end soon.”
As the drama unfolded Tuesday afternoon, news channels shifted attention from what had dominated coverage all morning: a power failure across the country that shut down subways, trams and traffic lights in Istanbul. The blackout, which Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said could have been the work of terrorists, prompted speculation in the Turkish media that the assailants were able to enter the courthouse because the metal detectors were not working.
Communist terrorist groups are so 20th century.
So, the hostage died as well.

Mobile version but F it, gonna post it anyway.
The terrorists could enter the building with weapons because they were dressed/disguised as lawyers who cannot be searched by law.

Seriously though who even considers hostage taking a viable solution to obtain anything in 2015
Has there been a single hostage situation in the past 115 years in an easy to surround, easy to access building that actually ended up in favor of the hostage taker
People who take hostages are literally the dumbest type of criminal because they're committing a crime that has virtually 0% success rate and still expect some form of positive result in their favor.
I was expecting radical Islam when I opened this thread, not radical communism.
As a leftist, I never did see how assassinations/hostage situations could further a leftist cause, especially with something like marxism. It's just violence where it isn't needed. Political systems are set up so people take their place rather than the entire thing halting, so this wasn't even really that effective, not to mention it helps further vilify the group in the public eye.

Im not gonna say I'm too broken hearted about the conclusion though.
NOTE: I AM NOT SAYING THAT THIS WAS OK

Pretty much this. I just don't understand what they think can possibly be achieved from it.

After some digging, I found an English translation of an interview with the militants. I have no idea about the legitimacy of the source however.
