That prompted the dispatch of 35 Nassau County Police units and several Garden City Police units to manage the crowd. Mall security closed many entrances to prevent more fans from entering.
Police canceled the event and dispersed the crowd. As many as five people suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
At about 4:32 p.m., Justin tweeted: "the event at roosevelt mall is cancelled. please go home. the police have already arrested one person from my camp. I dont want anyone hurt."Officers arrested James A. Roppo, 44, the senior vice president for sales of Island Def Jam Records, who was at the event with Bieber.
The police did not specify the charges, but said the investigation is ongoing.
His fans quickly reacted on Twitter.
