UPDATE:

hey guys. sadly, we didn't get to the finals. but who CARES! it was the most kickass gig we've ever played! literally EVERYONE in the rockbar knew our songs and the owner of the place's digging us so much he's talking about letting us play on saturday nights! not to mention some dude from lamb of god (a roadie) got one of our EPs! [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/3dicksmadeofEPs.jpg[/t] we had 50 EPs and sold ALL of them! i'm not exactly sure why we didn't get to the finals but i don't really care. it was a kickass night and we got money from the EPs, and an awesome crowd to go along with our gig. i want to thank everyone who helped us by buying our EP online, it's been useful! we got 60 dollars from sales (yeah.. it's not a lot) and it helped paying the monkey costume. thanks facepunch! if you guys like our stuff, you can follow our gigs, pictures, etc on this thread! http://facepunch.com/threads/1063294/4

OLD POST:
hey FP. my band just released an EP at bandcamp and we could really use some help right now. basically, we're gonna get in a festival and we need to pay the dudes 120 R$ to get in. if we win this festival we'll win 3000 R$, and with 4 to 5k we can make 1000-1500 actual cds with booklets and what not, and then getting ourselves a label, releasing our stuff on actual stores shouldn't be hard. this is a huge opportunity for us. i know this is highly optimistic but we've expecting to sell ~1000 dollars in EPs, and that should be enough to make up for the missing thousands that we need to pay for the company that's gonna make our cds. our actual debut album should be coming out somewhere around late march 2012. if you're willing to help us out, it's a minimum of 5 dollars. but seriously, you don't have to pay anything more than 5 dollars. every bit helps, if you can't buy it, at least try to help us out and show our stuff to your friends and what not, it's amazing to have your support! it's a speed/thrash metal band, we use mainly Megadeth and Metallica as influence but there's also early Anthrax, early Pantera and a bit of Motorhead into it. i'm the rhythm guitar, singer and composer. you can listen to our stuff and buy the EP here: http://polarismetal.bandcamp.com/album/running-away-ep before posting this thread, i asked two GD moderators if i could post it here, and they said i could. we do have a musician's gig room thread but i figured it wouldn't call too much attention to tell people about our ep over there since it's a really small community compared to GD. thanks a lot in advance if any of you are willing to help us out!
Hey, this is pretty awesome. I'll buy the album later, are you guys gonna get iTunes?
Hey, this is pretty awesome. I'll buy the album later, are you guys gonna get iTunes?
we never tried it out but we might, specially when it comes to releasing the debut album. good to know you like it!
we never tried it out but we might, specially when it comes to releasing the debut album. good to know you like it!
If not I'll still buy it probably, but it'd be easier with iTunes.
I've read São Paulo on your tags, so I've check and... You're brazillian. Good to see that we still have quality bands in Brazil. You've got talent, keep the good job going! [editline]25th October 2011[/editline] Also, I'm waiting to buy a physical copy of your work. Do not let me down!
If you become famous do we get backstage passes?
I feel like there are a bunch of bands, especially metal, named Polaris.

This isn't half bad!
You guys are a much better Polaris though.
i'm the base guitar
Are you sure you're a musician :v:
Wow Moshpit is really gooood. It's a generic name, so I don't really like it, but the song is great! Definitely work on that. Part of building fans is simply sounding appealing. With better choice of songs titles, and possibly a band name (no offense, but it's not really original), I think you can be pretty successful.
It's better than I thought it would be actually. Though the songs names are absolutely crippled of imagination, and you should probably look to recruit a vocalist. I'd love to hear you experimenting with some stoner/sludge/prog or maybe even punk styles, because this is a tad too much of an Iron Maiden clone, intentional or not. Good luck, anyway.
Nice, the songs were pretty sweet; I agree with hexag0n thought iTunes would be easier, you should try.
thanks everyone who's giving us crits! we know there's a bunch of bands named polaris but you can't really have rights over that name. it's a star, it's a missile, it's a quad bike... also honestly i think our sound is actually unique and catchy enough to call the attention of metalheads all over the world. nowadays you don't see many oldschool bands, all you get's a bunch of technical melodic death metal stuff and weird prog metal bands and seriously, sometimes you just need a good song that sticks. thanks for the crits!
hi
Here's what always happens. Every new thrash non-American or British band really isn't that bad but since they don't (I could be wrong, correct if so) have a great grasp on the English language so they use generic and honestly, stupid and waaaaaaaay overdone names and themes like "kill the posers" "moshing for beer and metal" or something like that, just look up the band Fueled by Fire. That instantly makes them get kind of shunned because they just sound like every other neo-thrash band that there are so many of now. That's what I think at least.
well nuclearannihilation we got ourselves some nice lyrics that we HAVE released on a few demo releases, it's about a dude who kills corrupt policemen on the wild west:
Cold Blooded Justice When the sun shines bright on the sky The nameless one will come Bringing justice and huge might His fear stands out for no one Hear the gallops Hear the gunshots He is on the town Kills one by one They'll feel the spore There's justice's on tonight Got his lucky .32 He never missed a shot With his impeccable view The criminals will rot Hear the gallops Hear the gunshots He is on the town Kills one by one They'll feel the spore There's justice's on tonight (Chorus) Corruption, false command (Cold Blooded Justice!) Your laws were out of hand (Cold Blooded Justice!) The Justice may come late... (Cold Blooded Justice!) But the Justice'll make you pay! Shadow of no one! For those who claim themselves the law He shall make them fall! Stick to the rules, and don't give away Or you'll learn the hardest way! Hear the gallops Hear the gunshots He is on the town Kills one by one They'll feel the spore 'Cause he has brought some toys (Chorus) (Solo) On his mustang He rides away On the glory of a Hero with no name Some say it's faith Some say it's luck But they call all him the Nameless one (Chorus)
it's just that we thought releasing the oldschool, metal 4 life etc ones would be appropriate for an EP release. wait for the actual album release and you're totally gonna see some good lyrics. we got a song that talks about religion (think holy wars by megadeth) and another one that's against some politician here in brazil. i guess all i can say is keep tuned and thanks for the criticism! [editline]25th October 2011[/editline] and we want to evolve our stuff, try new techniques, make it sound different each album we release, unlike motorhead that sounds the same all the time. we wanna evolve our sound like say, megadeth.
It's nice to see people still want to be rockstars instead of popstars.
on your first song your vocals really need to be louder [editline]25th October 2011[/editline] you're pretty quiet on most of your songs, annunciate and crank up the volume
on your first song your vocals really need to be louder [editline]25th October 2011[/editline] you're pretty quiet on most of your songs, annunciate and crank up the volume
will do so, those aren't the final mixes. we're going to re-record and obv do a way better production for the actual debut album. but you're not the first to say the vocals aren't loud enough so we're totally going to raise them. thanks for the crits!

Sounds like good old speed Megadeth mixed with Motorhead singing. And Thrashing Metal Beast sounds a ton like Metal Militia.
this is pretty sweet, i like the vocal style a lot. reminds me of dillinger four but supa hardcore
Not a huge fan of Speed Metal but I do like Pantera. I don't have any money in my account at the moment but I will on Monday, if I have any left after bills I will definitely buy your EP, good to see a band actually making effort, bands in my area just seem to wait for success to come to them, losers.
Wow, this isn't bad. If I had the money I'd definitely buy a copy.
Are you sure you're a musician :v:
sorry i didn't know it was called rhythm. we call it "guitarra base" here in brazil.
sorry i didn't know it was called rhythm. we call it "guitarra base" here in brazil.
Pretty sure he meant 'bass'... it's not 'base' guitar.
Fucking awesome name.
I see potential in you guys. I like it! Good luck in your future endeavors with music.
sorry i didn't know it was called rhythm. we call it "guitarra base" here in brazil.
Oh you're brazilian! Sorry, I thought you didn't know how to spell it. Freehat is correct, I meant bass guitar. It's pretty common for people who don't know about music to misspell it "base guitar" in English, that's all.
also honestly i think our sound is actually unique and catchy enough to call the attention of metalheads all over the world
Really though, have you heard Iron Maiden Also I assume you're familiar with Hit The Lights, and believe me anyone who's into that kind of music will notice how eerily similar that Beast song is. Not saying you ripped it off, it just really sounds like you did. Influences shouldn't be perceived really heavily in subsequent bands' music, or they probably don't have anything to bring to the table themselves. I get that you're going for a straight-up flavour, but from the impression I've got listening to the EP you need to distance yourself from these huge old groups. The reason you don't see a lot of similar bands is because they get lost in the slipstream of those giants from a school of thought and sound that's over twenty years old. Pull out every trick you have and don't label yourself and try to fit into that box, cause chances are you won't get places if you do.
