The House of Representatives on Thursday passed the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, a dangerously broad effort to fortify the nation’s cyber defenses by allowing private and public entities to share data. EDIT: Just a clarification, this does not make the bill law yet, now it will be voted on by the senate who we can only hope will shoot this shit down hard. Looking for a better source right now, twitter is just exploding right now.
Oh boy. Not this again.
Well, Fuck. Hopefully it doesn't get farther.
uh, maybe i'm just trying to remain optimistic here (or in denial), but can we get a better news source?
Oh shit. I gave my name to EA Customer Support.
What the fuck. The internet is fine! Why fuck with what he haveeeeeeeeeee....
uh, maybe i'm just trying to remain optimistic here (or in denial), but can we get a better news source?
This literally just happened a few minutes ago, I'll update OP with better sources as they arise.
FUCK this week so hard god DAMN.
uh, maybe i'm just trying to remain optimistic here (or in denial), but can we get a better news source?
How about the official roll call? http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2013/roll117.xml Oh wow yeas have exactly 66% of the vote.
It actually passed yesterday, yet no one seemed to noticed
This literally just happened a few minutes ago, I'll update OP with better sources as they arise.
alright mate, just seems a tad weird because one of my friends shared a thing on facebook yesterday saying CISPA passed and I didn't see anything about it but now this happened? once again, i'm probably in denial or something :S
Okay Obama, now to live up to your threat. Please.
Obama can veto this, right? Right? Please?
Let's hope Obama keeps his word and Veto's this shit.
Okay, why isn't this getting as much press or as much opposition as SOPA did? Everyone on the internet pulled together to stop it.. Do we need info graphics or some shit?! Everyone was up in arms about it but this will do much worse than stop your media. This will invade your privacy totally. I guess everyone is so numbed to their privacy being out on the internet now that its not a big deal to them. If this goes through I'm deleting every account on the internet that I have and I'll just live life without it. I'm glad I don't use my real name/info on any website anyway.
It actually passed yesterday, yet no one seemed to noticed
No, it was still being voted on then, which went into today I believe. Hence why all the news sites just posted it now as opposed to yesterday. Also, sources are up, no foolies this time. They're seriously using Boston as cover for this fucking bill, that's the most disgusting thing ever.
it'll fail the senate again like it did last time
America never ceases to amaze.
Go away House of Representatives, no one likes you.
I mean honestly with the amount of democrats opposing it in the house you really think it'll pass the senate democrats? come on now guys lets think http://www.opencongress.org/bill/113-h624/show if you wanna follow
America never ceases to amaze.
Don't generalize our whole country just because Congress is made up mostly of old men who don't know what the internet is.
Yeah this same exact thing happened 11 months ago, with an even bigger majority than now. The only thing worrying me is the support it's getting from manufacturers and lobbyist firms. Eventually if you throw enough money at something and try to pass it enough something is going to happen.
Don't generalize our whole country just because Congress is made up mostly of old men who don't know what the internet is.
Well American citizens allow those old farts to sit there in the first place.
Well American citizens allow those old farts to sit there in the first place.
old farts allow those old farts to sit there in the first place*
this is probably gonna get a lot of dumbs and i know it sounds awful but can all these fucking old men in congress just fucking piss off already and get shoved into shitty nursing homes and never be heard of again, god damn
well it's been nice knowing you America
America never ceases to amaze.
Neither do you
Welp, see you guys in Canada soon.
I thought Canada has something like this.
Don't generalize our whole country just because Congress is made up mostly of old men who don't know what the internet is.
Fairly sure I was talking about your government.
If the House of Representatives are supposed to Reperesent the citizens of the United States. Can we find one person who isn't being payed by lobbyist to agree that they want this law passed? And I'm not talking about "person" as in legal terms, because corporations are considered people. Why would anyone want their personal online lives monitored by private entites?
