• Berlin House of One: The first church-mosque-synagogue?
Berlin thinks it is making religious history as Muslims, Jews and Christians join hands to build a place where they can all worship. The House of One, as it is being called, will be a synagogue, a church and a mosque under one roof.
Personally I not sure this would be a good idea because of the extremist. Unfortunately they ruin good things for everyone source http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-27872551
I'd like to be optimistic, but it won't hold.
I'd like to be optimistic, but it won't hold.
Why? What do you think will happen?
Din-i-Ilahi v2?
The House of One, I don't know why but that's such a cool name
The House of One, I don't know why but that's such a cool name
All these abrahamic religions worship the same god, it's a clever name too. Kind of bogus, seeing as all three religions badly conflict with each other.
Kind of bogus, seeing as all three religions badly conflict with each other.
And this building makes a very good point: you're worshipping the same fucking god. You're not supposed to fight.
The House of One, I don't know why but that's such a cool name
It sounds like some sci-fi religious nut-cult. Hand of Nod.
It sounds like some sci-fi religious nut-cult. Hand of Nod.
The House of One Make us Whole Convergence is coming
The House of One Make us Whole Convergence is coming
where's my plasma cutter
Why? What do you think will happen?
Eh, on second thought, I suppose it could work, same god and all that. Disregard little old me.
where's my plasma cutter
I'm gonna open this door by pulling all of the wires out of this box!
I'm gonna open this door by pulling all of the wires out of this box!
That's actually a sensible thing to do IRL (with good isolating gloves). There are very few automatic doors that default to "locked" in a power outage. Notable exceptions would be bank vaults and car doors from outside, and fire doors (but those will close, not lock, and can always be pushed open quite easily afaik). Unless you mean that the doors magically spring open if you do that, because I never played the game(s) :v:
Will the Hivemind be created in the basement?
I love berlin, what a city.
Why is one building taller than the others?
It's a central meeting area that connects all 3 buildings around it
Each of the three areas in the House will be the same size, but of a different shape, architect Wilfried Kuehn points out. "Each of the singular spaces is designed according to the religious needs, the particularities of each faith," he says. "There are for instance two levels in the mosque and the synagogue but there's only one level in the church. There will be an organ in the church. There are places to wash feet in the mosque."

Why? What do you think will happen?
Carbombed then firebombed then lawsuited out of existence [editline]22nd June 2014[/editline] Hope this does catch on, the mosurchogog not the car bombing, people could use more connecting instead of cloistering up in our separate communities and even if it's just a big building with three spaces its a great start
And this building makes a very good point: you're worshipping the same fucking god. You're not supposed to fight.
We try to worship the same God but the fundamental theological differences make it impossible to worship him together.
We try to worship the same God but the fundamental theological differences make it impossible to worship him together.
At least in theory the Muslims say that the Christians and Jews should be treated at least with some consideration given that they worship the same god and more or less follow similar teachings, and are thus classed as 'People of the Book' and should be given a bit more religious leeway. Granted, not all of the people are equal in their faith towards God, according at least to the most common interpretations as evinced in 3:113-110 and 3:199 of the Qur'an. And also, remember that more moderate interpretations of the Hadith do mention that it's best to maintain a more neutral outlook on those of any other faith, instead of taking a more extreme stand.
I love this so much.
This has been already been done before so I see no reason it won't work. When I was at Navy Bootcamp they had an absolutely massive structure that had a ridiculous amount of religious services.
It begins
Well this is a very heartwarming concept, but all 3 religions explicitly state to slaughter/convert people of the different faith, how does that work?

I keep hearing "they worship the same god." Jesus is god in the Christian religion. He isn't god in Islam or Judaism. How is it the same god then?
I keep hearing "they worship the same god." Jesus is god in the Christian religion. He isn't god in Islam or Judaism. How is it the same god then?
You and a 1st grader share about the same knowledge of religion, god damn.
You and a 1st grader share about the same knowledge of religion, god damn.
Can you explain it to me then? How is Jesus god but also not god? [editline]22nd June 2014[/editline] If all three religions share the same god, then Jesus is simultaneously a god, an apocalyptic prophet, and a false messiah.
You realize Jesus is not God himself right? He was a prophet.
You realize Jesus is not God himself right? He was a prophet.
In Christianity he is god.
