The situation at the Fukushima 1 power plant is uncontrollable; any effort on behalf of human beings to fix the situation is futile. What will happen is a Chernobyl type event where massive amounts of radiation are released in to the environment and it is rendered unsafe for human life for decades. This will be catastrophic, because unlike the former Soviet Union, Japan is a tiny island that is already seriously overpopulated. There will have to be evacuations of most of the island, because an event of this magnitude would disrupt the Japanese economy and Japan's infrastructure, making it impossible to safely travel in a northerly or southern direction from one end of the country to another.

So a large population of Japan will be transported on military boats, airplanes, private boats (cruiseliners), etc to the only two nations that are economically and environmentally equipped to host them: Canada and the USA.
Interestingly enough, an influx of Japanese citizens could stave off the inevitable economic collapse for some time. The Japanese could stimulate America's devastated housing industry. They could revitalize the American Midwest or turn Alberta, Canada in to a metropolis. Canada and America should invest in the industrious Japanese people rather than the third world. But what do you guys think?

Why the fuck would Japanese citizens emigrate when only 30km2 will be effected by the nuclear meltdowns?
I love meeting japanese people.
We got room in Australia. :unsmith:

lol sure.
As much as I'd love to see more Japanese around here, it's not going to happen. You make it sound like the entire island of Japan would be uninhabitable, which isn't true in the slightest. They're not going to evacuate Japan or whatever it is you think will happen.
At this time the situation at the Fukushima Power Plant is stable and there is no sign of a catastrophic failure in the foreseeable future.
Hey, woah. Only America and Canada have the resources to support a wave of immigrants?
(No pun intended)
Aw man, now I feel bad :ohdear:
America :patriot:
yeah no
this will not turn into another chernobyl, therefor the rest of your nonsensical drivel can be discarded as well
Australia has the recourses.
But can't really handle it at the moment because of the fires/escapes/protesting going on at Christmas island where the asylum seekers are being held.

Why does everyone turn into a nuclear/radiation scientist when these things come around.
One would've thought you're have learned from the previous ban. Seems not.
It's physically impossible for a Chernobyl type accident to occur at Fukushima, not least because of the completely different design.

This. Light Water Reactors don't really explode.
Also, literally, right this instant CNN is reporting "Radiation levels 0 at Reactor 3" so if we're to believe that than the situation is as good as over given enough time to make a permanent fix to the cooling system. It is possible to stop a melt-down in progress. They did it at Three-Mile Island.
Now it's something about Libya but if you hang around it'll come back.

it's such a minor issue. we have too many processing centres in australia, and regardless, he japanese are not going to be refugees.
I wouldn't mind, but don't think they'll come to the U.S.
They're welcome In Germany but we already have enough crazy people so we don't need anymore.
I love Japanese people, they're awesome
Yeah my mom has the same exact argument as yours, only it's backed by some old religious story about armies from the east invading America.
Plus, Fukushima will never be as bad a Chernobyl. You shouldn't even be relating the two together. Hell, what caused the reactors in Ukraine to explode was their shitty design and use of graphite in control rods. According to the international Nuclear Affairs Events Scale, Ukraine had a level 7 nuclear incident. Japan is at a level 4 and is under constant watch and maintenance. Did you research this at all?
EDIT:
You're an unrealistic, pessimistic, fatalist OP.
To be honest I was hoping for a Nuclear Meltdown, just to watch one in action.
To be honest I was hoping for a Nuclear Meltdown, just to watch one in action.
wow. just look up molten metal
Also, the reactors there probably will be out of commission for a long while. In the heat, the rods more than likely melted together, making them one mass of unstable rod.

You're a monster.

I though the Fukushima accident is level 6
At this time the situation at the Fukushima Power Plant is stable and there is no sign of a catastrophic failure in the foreseeable future.
Actually no, they have given up on trying to stabalize them and said they might just try to bury them now to contain some of the raditation.
Also, the reactors there probably will be out of commission for a long while. In the heat, the rods more than likely melted together, making them one mass of unstable rod.
The reactors will never be used again. Much like reactor 2 at Three Mile Island Generating Station

How much of a heartless prick can you be

You sound very certain, where have you drawn this considerable quantity of guesswork from?
I though the Fukushima accident is level 6
I'm pulling my info from an article describing how these light water reactors are set up. Take a look if you really want to:

It sounds like the OP just pulled his info from his ass.

And you have a Ph.d. in Nuclear engineering??
