"Opening doors, turning valves, entering and driving a car, and last but not least, walking up a regular stair. Doing them yourself is easy, making a computer do them, is not."
0:56 is like picking up a girl for the first date
Every single one of these is pretty much me pissed off my head. [editline]edit[/editline] Also this should be playing.

it's like they all have narcolepsy
This just in: Robots discover alcohol. Apocalypse averted."
Ah, I see they're simulating "The journey home from a bar on a saturday night."
Imagine being a part of one of these teams working on a robot for several months, perhaps even years, only to have it fail spectacularly in front of a whole bunch of people I'm getting some pretty bad second-hand embarrassment just thinking about it

the thing at 0:20 just gives up
Basically Metal Gear prototype tryouts.
Last one in the video - aka getting out of the taxi after a night out.
Imagine being a part of one of these teams working on a robot for several months, perhaps even years, only to have it fail spectacularly in front of a whole bunch of people I'm getting some pretty bad second-hand embarrassment just thinking about it
I actually work with (rudimentary) robotics at university and let me assure you that everyone in the field is very used to everything sometimes behaving in that manner. It might seem very embarrassing to somebody who's subconsciously used to fluently moving animated robots and watching Darpa's own prototypes swaggering about, but most of the audience there probably understood this shit ain't easy. That said, it's still hilarious even to me. I hope I will be eventually building robots that will be slightly less intoxicated, myself. [editline]8th June 2015[/editline]
the thing at 0:20 just gives up
That, in fact, is very likely exactly what happens in many of these. These things are usually modelled with quite many simplifications to understanding of their own movement and if something unexpected happens, they usually aren't really built to deal with it. Now if you consider these robots are quite tall and heavy, if they drop with joints locked, it can very likely cause quite serious structural damage and you would destroy the thing many times over while testing it through development, before getting anything functional. That's why they probably at least some have a safety mechanism of "something's off, dunno what to do now, gonna limp and give in to gravity to ensure the fall is as soft as possible". It's a safety feature. [editline]8th June 2015[/editline] Not to mention it's wholly possible that on many of these occasions the software just crashed due to a bug and the thing simply stopped working.
0:56 is what happens when you spawn a ragdoll in garrys mod
This just in: Robots discover alcohol. Apocalypse averted."
Bender runs on alcohol and was the first to destroy New York City. [sp]where is your god now[/sp]
Aww, they didn't include one where one pushes itself backwards from the door, two parts fly off, then a jet of hydraulic fluid shoots out of the arm.

Imagine how much money is needed after every fall. I'm sure even if you build those really robust, each individual part can break and they look VERY expensive.
0:48 when you prepare to deliver fisting in your first porn movie, but anxiety is overwhelming.
Imagine how much money is needed after every fall. I'm sure even if you build those really robust, each individual part can break and they look VERY expensive.
Surprisingly, not much
The impressive thing about these falls is that, although they look pretty bad, the robots were just fine (well, most of them). After humans got them back on their feet and gave them a reboot, the machines were ready to run again. Team IHMC’s Atlas fell twice during their run and it still scored 7 points (of a maximum of 8). Team MIT’s Atlas had a bad stumble out of the vehicle and also went on to complete most of the course. So it’s a good thing that robots are falling at the DRC Finals—that’s how we’re going to make them better.
0:19 open dev console type "kill" *EUGHHH*
Go to 1:40 This is the last robot in the original video.
This will sure be embarrassing for the robot overlords in 100 years time
This will sure be embarrassing for the robot overlords in 100 years time
It'll be like showing off your 25 year old son's baby photos to your friends

Also fits perfectly.
Video is blocked by someone who has no relation to this shit.
