What Is Cameramail? So I'm sure we've all seen a project that's similar or exactly like this. This project is one where you use a disposable camera to take one picture of something around you. It can be anything but please don't ruin the image. After you've taken your photo you need to send it to the next person on the list. You only get to take one photo so it leaves room for other people on the roll. I am also going to include a small notebook so you can leave a little note about who you are and what photograph that you have taken. It will let us be able to give a little back ground information about the photo and that's almost important as the photo itself. Here's an example of some people that are doing something similar to this on Petapixel. People In The United States Could everyone in the U.S. please email their address that they live at along just like you normally would when signing up for a magazine or something that requires mailing. My email is gramza.john@gmail.com, I will not be sharing this info with anyone except for when I have to tell people who thy're mailing the camera to next. People Outside The United States(UK) Cueball will be coordinating the UK and then when we are ready we will combine for the international version
Could every person who is interested in doing a UK one, please email me their address to codenamecueball@gmail.com with their FP name and whether they could spare like 50p on paypal to pay for a disposable camera/donate a camera for this. Thanks.
The Cost This project is really simple and can be done at low cost. The only thing that's going to ever cost you money is the developing of the film if you are the last exposure and the postage to send to the next person the camera. This can be sent out of country if people outside of the United States want to do it. I would really like to get this camera outside the united states if we can, the photos would be very interesting and worth every penny. Are You Up To The Challenge? Are you up for the challenge. It only involves a few minutes/hours of you time and it will produce some very cool pictures in the end. All I need to know is who's interested in participating in this project and where you live(country and state/city). Please fill out this form if you haven't so I can have all of this information in one place. We've already had people say that they're going to help with the costs of some things and I will provide the camera for the U.S version and if we go International then we'll just use the same camera Please sign up a disposable camera only has 24 exposures so space is limited for the first try. Who Owns The Images? The images that we get from this will be posted up to Flickr or 500px under a new account just for this project. No one will have rights to any photo, they will be free for everyone to have although your name will put in a caption below and credit will be given appropriately. I'm sure that we could get prints out to those who want them for a small price to cover the printing/postage. Thanks for reading, if I missed anything or you think that something should or shouldn't be done then please correct me by posting below. We could also use a banner if someone is up to making one real fast.
X-rays rarely affect film, lead lined bags barely help (x-rays can penetrate them) and most mail is never x-rayed at all. The bag would just increase shipping cost, so I'd leave it out.

Signed up. Might be an idea to do one camera per country, so shipping over the Pacific/Atlantic isn't necessary, and will allow for more participants, or more exposures per person.
Might be an idea to do one camera per country, so shipping over the Pacific/Atlantic isn't necessary, and will allow for more participants, or more exposures per person.
I think that we need to have at least one camera go over the Atlantic to Europe or the other way around. It's more of an adventure when you get it developed to see all of the cool things on the roll. But I definitely think that we are going to have cameras that are just for one country for the reasons that you have stated.
It isn't cheap to send things over the Atlantic. We'd have to see who's willing to pay.
It isn't cheap to send things over the Atlantic. We'd have to see who's willing to pay.
give me some numbers
I'm interested.
It isn't cheap to send things over the Atlantic. We'd have to see who's willing to pay.
I agree, maybe we need communal funds to do it or someone that has some dosh to burn.
give me some numbers
It will cost £6 ($10~) for just the tracking alone. And between £10-£15 for shipping that won't take "up to 56 days". This is for UK -> USA. This would take a single overseas shipment of 500g (450g typical Kodak disposable + packaging) to around $25.
I'm interested, sign me up. Can we reuse the bag?
I'm interested, sign me up. Can we reuse the bag?
Yes we can but we may not need to use it and we probably won't to save money on shipping if we have to.
I'm interested, sign me up. Can we reuse the bag?
The bag's being left out, ready 2nd post. Okay, probably left out, but I highly recommend that the bag's left out. It'll do nothing but quadruple the postage costs.
it's that heavy? neat. also I wouldn't mind making the shipment out to the UK if it has to go back, can write it off as a business expense :v:
it's that heavy? neat. also I wouldn't mind making the shipment out to the UK if it has to go back, can write it off as a business expense :v:
It's lead lined, so yes. Also, if there was no bag, it would mean nobody has to handle lead :V
It's lead lined, so yes. Also, if there was no bag, it would mean nobody has to handle lead :V
It has a coat of paint over over the lead on the inside and the outside.
so far it looks like I'm the only Australian :c At this stage if I wanted to participate I'd probably either have to be first or last, or in-between the 2 continents...
Yes, but the barrier breaks down with heavy use.
I'm in. From Atlanta, GA so shipping US-side wouldn't be too bad. I'm thinking we do a cross-United States first and then ship it off to the UK/Europe? How many Americans vs. Europeans do we have for this?
How many Americans vs. Europeans do we have for this?
Everyone please rate me Agree if you're American and rate me disagree if you're European to calculate this.
Once again, I'm interested.
Whoop. I'm over here in Madison, Wisconsin. Pretty darn close to daijitsu if I remember correctly. (Chicagoish area?)
Everyone please rate me Agree if you're American and rate me disagree if you're European to calculate this.
I'll rate you informative for Canadian.
If you do it internationally don't use a disposable, use something like an XA2. Since a disposable has very high iso film.
I'm very interested and if it comes to shipping I'd be willing to pay a sum for that. I'm in Europe btw, Netherlands.
I've done a quick aggregate from the results of the form so far
I'd be interested in this as well.
I'd be interested in this as well.
read the OP dammit! fill out this form here https://docs.google.com/a/haslehurst.net/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dEZFODJaQklPU0JJN2tHMmRhMnFkTVE6MQ#gid=0
Hey guys. I know roll_program has stated that x rays rarely affect a roll of film, but there is a chance that if the film has a hight iso, it could be completely wiped by one unlucky scanning when it's entering customs - especially if it's travelling through airmail (something I think we should avoid).

The chances of anything happening are so very thin, and it can't be completely wiped by x-rays either, x-rays are far beyond the spectrum of light that film is most sensitive to.
