• Florida Republican Introduces Bill Criminalizing Abortion – Calling For Life In Prison

[release]At 10%, Florida has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Rather than deal with the difficult issues, one Florida lawmaker chose to attack the real villains in today’s world, doctors. By flinging red meat to the state’s rabid religious right (and presumably the for-profit prison industry), Florida State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) hoped that he could distract people from their dollar menu diets and untreated illnesses. Van Zant introduced a bill which would make providing abortions a felony, even in cases of rape and incest. The only exceptions would be when the woman’s life is in danger. The Bill, called the Florida for Life Act, says (from Think Progress):
A termination of pregnancy may not be performed unless: (a) Two physicians certify in writing to the fact that, to a reasonable degree of medical certainty, the termination of pregnancy is necessary to prevent the death of the patient; (b) Two physicians certify in writing to the fact that, to a reasonable degree of medical certainty, the termination of pregnancy is necessary because to continue the pregnancy would unreasonably reduce the likelihood of successful treatment of a life-threatening disease of the patient; or (c) A physician certifies in writing that a medical emergency existed and another physician was not available for consultation prior to the time necessary to perform the termination of pregnancy. The physician’s written certification must clearly describe the medical emergency.
The maximum penalty for the doctor would be life in prison. Let’s just hope that pregnant women in Florida don’t need medical care. Let’s hope that fetuses don’t need quality nutrition. Let’s hope the babies don’t need homes, medical care or food. Let’s hope they don’t grow up to need jobs. Because even before they exit the womb, Florida’s attention has moved on to the next unborn fetus.[/release] http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/01/05/florida-republican-introduces-bill-criminalizing-abortion-calling-for-life-in-prison/
That's fucking retarded. Forcing a rape victim to have a child is just terrible.
Crazy ass Republicans
That's fucking retarded. Forcing a rape victim to have that child is just terrible.
Republicans.
FUCK MY STATE SOMETIMES, goddamn. We are focusing on the wrong shit.
I love living in Florida, it's a shame that Republicans are fucking it up.
Van Zant abort yourself
It's funny to me though. Since in several investigations, it has been found that even the most anti abortion people have had at least one abortion. The statistic was like 1/4 of them.
besides women gave themselves abortions all the time
I love Florida, it's a shame that Republicans are fucking it up.
Scott shouldn't have even have had a chance. You shouldn't have a person who committed hundreds of millions of dollars in government fraud be allowed to run for a position of power.
So could we somehow get Santorum arrested then?
I really am not surprised any more.
Oh and the Republican National Convention coming to Tampa this year. That's always fun for people like me.
It bothers me that stuff like this isn't the least bit surprising to me anymore.
So could we somehow get Santorum arrested then?
Its not an ex post facto law.
In my opinion you can't comment on people who choose abortion until you've been in their position.
How about introducing a bill that makes being stupid illegal? Would thin out the republicans pretty fast.
It says in the article that it will benefit the prison industry, surely that will lead to more jobs in the sector! You and your liberal minds can't even see the big picture!
More ass-backwards rhetoric from republicans, what's new. I'm beginning to think they might have good intentions to start with (protecting children?), but the biblethumpers higher up in the party hierarchy turns it into shit every time. Not everyone in the GOP can be this evil.
You and your liberal minds can't even see the big picture!
I know that was intended as a joke but I find it hilarious that Republicans use the word "Liberal" as a derogatory term and, at the same time, accuse them of going against "Core American values". You mean values such as "Life, LIBERTY and the pursuit of happiness"?
Florida Republican Mix those two, and you have trouble.
Fucking Florida wake the fuck up, force rape victims should not be arrested for having a child that aint theirs. I hate living here more and more each fucking day. [editline]7th January 2012[/editline]
Florida Republican Mix those two, and you have trouble.
We need a democratic governor. My cities mayor is a democrat, and our city has been perfect for the past 5 years.
Republican
Really all you need.
A complete misunderstanding of, and disrespect for, women's rights Brought to you by the state that looks like a dick
Not everyone in the GOP can be this evil.
Oh, don't let them fool you. They can always top whatever you think is bad at the moment.
A complete misunderstanding of, and disrespect for, women's rights Brought to you by the state that looks like a dick
And is filled with them.
Most of these people genuinely believe that abortion is murder. It doesn't work to say that republicans hate women or choice or freedom, because you just look ignorant.
yeah I think this will improve the country immensely with it's complete disregard of civil rights.
Don`t you think that it should be women making the calls about abortion? I have yet to see a anti-abortion bill of this degree being pushed by a woman.
wow, the republican party makes the BNP look like a group of upstanding gentlemen
