MOSCOW — Russian officials complained on Monday that the United States routinely disregards extradition requests by the Russian government, the latest in a series of public statements that seem aimed at laying the groundwork for granting asylum to Edward J. Snowden, the former intelligence contractor on the run from the American authorities. In separate but apparently coordinated statements, officials from the Russian Interior Ministry and from the prosecutor general’s office complained that the United States had refused to extradite individuals sought by Russia as suspected terrorists or on serious criminal charges. “The United States is repeatedly refusing Russia to extradite individuals, to hold them criminally liable, including those accused of committing serious or heinous crimes,” Sergei Gorlenko, the acting chief of the prosecutor general’s extradition office, told the Interfax news agency. “We have been denied the extradition of murderers, bandits and bribetakers.” The Interior Ministry accused the United States of “double standards” in demanding Mr. Snowden’s return. The prosecutor general’s office said the United States had refused to extradite about 20 suspects over the past decade, citing the lack of an extradition treaty — the same reason senior Kremlin officials have given in saying they have no plan to repatriate Mr. Snowden.
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/23/world/europe/russia-cites-extradition-as-sore-point-with-us.html?_r=0
USA is the land of double standards.
Could you imagine if the opposite happened? If it was leaked that Russia had a surveillance program. The person would be invited to have asylum in any country they wanted to get him away from those evil commie bastards! The US would stir up the biggest media shitstorm on how Russia has no human rights and should be punished. Cold war seems to still be hot.

It'll be some time before we are truly on amiable terms.
atleast the action movies might be good! imagine snowden having to gun his way out of the US or something
that'd be badass. he'd be embracing a nsa laptop with one arm and he'd throw himself inside an about-to-depart plane, his other arm clutching a pistol firing away at evil intelligence workers who attempt to protect america's darkest secrets
the cold war continues
The cold war will only end in putin creating a doomsday laser focused by the diamonds attached to the super bowl ring he stole.
Russia has no human rights and should be punished.
They're definitely more lacking in human rights than the U.S. though.
I can't wait to watch the movie about this whole escapade.
Thrill as Edward Snowden steals some laptops and then sits around at a bunch of Airports for a long time
They're definitely more lacking in human rights than the U.S. though.
not by much actually

I'd care about this if it wasn't Russia saying it. It'd be great if some European country called the US out on their bullshit.
