My Quad Core 3.2ghz 4 Gigs of Ram HD5750 with a Gig couldn't even run FSX at an acceptable level. FS9 is still the best Microsoft has put out

Install service pack 1.

It fixes a lot of graphical stuff that makes it run a lot smoother.

Mine runs at a constant 30 or so using a Captain Sim developed plane with REX and ENB. I don't even know how.

I can play it just fine on a quad core 2.2 GHz 4GB RAM and an old GTS8800
