Karl was in no mood for funny buggers today, and it took about two seconds for the Prime Minister to wish he’d stayed in bed, because Stefanovic handed him his own Speedo-d butt. The trouble started when Abbott accused the Labor Opposition of acting “feral”. Karl responded with this: “With respect, you were fairly feral in Opposition weren’t you…why would [Bill Shorten] do anything different when it worked for you?” Then he hooked into the budget: “The reality is here that the budget position is in a shambles and every day it does get worse. He's really stepping into the political light right now and he's doing a good job of it too. Not many are able to publicly do what he is doing and it's excellent.

Tony Abbot seems like the Aussie version of Stephen Harper, but with the key difference of being catastrophically incompetent at dealing with the media. I'd love someone to rip on our PM like this (because he's done more damage to our country than Abbot could ever hope to do to Australia) but he never makes the mistake of putting himself up to get skewered like this.

Everything Tony Abbott says sounds like something I'd write for a report if I had no clue what the subject I'm writing about is.

Their policies are so inexplicably linked, that Harper and Abbott call each other best friends. Canada introduces some new levy? You can bet your ass that Abbott will probably try and do something really similar. The only thing that is saving us from Abbott is that our Senate is much more functional than Canada's, as the members of the Senate are chosen (albeit somewhat confusingly) by the people rather than the Prime Minister's party. Luckily we have Senators that are not buying Abbott and the Liberal Party's bullshit.
