Early reports indicate that a man was unhappy after being pushed around in the pit, and retaliated by pulling out a knife and slashing another fan’s neck. Other attendees quickly sprung into action and collectively attacked the knife wielding man, knocking him unconscious.
http://www.metalsucks.net/2015/01/08/two-fans-hospitalized-following-mosh-pit-stabbing-cattle-decapitation-concert/

wow that audience is a bunch of wankers
unhappy after being pushed around in the pit
well what the hell was he expecting to get in a mosh pit, hugs?

People who go to concerts just so they can mosh or create walls of death are in a lot of cases, idiots. Just go and enjoy the music.
Also, why would you take a knife to a concert?
Absolutely sickening. A guy like this has no business at a metal concert. Watch as scaremongering idiots are gonna use this incident to spew more shit on metal(heads)...
Metal...
hurting people over the tiniest shit isn't metal

Lots of people use moshpits or walls of death as a way to blow off steam. If anyone gets hurt, everyone immediately stops and goes to check. There's always that one idiot that ruins everything for everyone, all metalheads I know care for each other.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. This is one of those cases where one person has ruined it for everyone. As a result of incidents like this, moshing and crowdsurfing have been banned at some concerts, which is a shame.

Mosh pits and walls of death in general are very clean with little to no actual injuries happening except for that one idiot who brings beer into the damn pit. Someone gets hurt, the whole thing stops, the guy goes out of the pit and once he's out the moshing resumes.
I hear moshpits are actually rather friendly. Guy once got knocked onto the floor and a load of people helped him back up.

How'd he get in with it? Security sure did a shit job.
How'd he get in with it? Security sure did a shit job.
I don't imagine there being airport levels of security at something like a concert
well what the hell was he expecting to get in a mosh pit, hugs?
To be fair sometimes a pit will open where you are in a crowd and you kinda are stuck in it.
If you just wanna enjoy the music it can be annoying.
This fat cholo tough guy took his shirt off and walked around bumping people to prove he is significantly tougher than the rest of us. One dude who was about a foot tall than him was guarding his girl, and after maybe the 2nd or 3rd time cholo slammed into him, he turned around and pushed his ass about 5 feet away flat on to his ass. It was pretty awesome. Well cholo didn't like this very much and had the "ohhh you fink you as tough me?!?!" face as his homies lifted him up. So cholo does a round around the pit (pit of 2 I should add) and socks the tall guy in the back of the head (on his tippy toes, of course). Tall guy didnt fight back or anything, he was just protecting his girl. Cholo tried starting something but security pulled him back. They should have thrown his ass out right then and there. This article wouldn't exist in that case. Well cholo continues being a tough guy, gets pushed down a few times, slams into people in return, gets knuckle bumps from his homies (my friend is confident they are a pit crew). I guess at one point, he slammed into this chick. So she walks over and slaps him, and he punched back. Ano a dozen people jumped him. Security pulled the people off and STILL threw no one out. Cholos girl tried fighting the chick that punched him. At this point I went over to my girl to see she was okay. She was tucked way in the corner so she was fine. Thats about all I saw, because when I left the pit area, they had FINALLY dragged these fucks outside. So im not sure what happened there. I went outside to see puddles of blood and about 5 people getting arrested. Cops flooding the whole parking lot. At that point I just went inside with my girl, made sure my friend was okay, and went on to enjoy the next 45 seconds of cattle, until they shut it down. For me, the biggest shame is that we will be losing another place in socal that let people throw metal shows (this is a bowling alley!) All because some fucking tough guys couldnt swallow their pride.
According to one of the comments in the article, this is what supposedly happened but then again take it with a grain of salt.

When I first started going to concerts I didn't want to get caught in the pit so I always tried to get as close to the sound guy as possible, my moms pal who has been a music enthusiast since dinosaurs walked this earth told me that was where I was going to get the best sound.
Then I remember having a bit too much to drink at one concert, and the band was playing a song I really fucking liked, didn't realize that the pit had been spreading so I was suddenly caught in the pit, was not aware of this because I was so occupied with headbanging. Eventually I just realized that I was in a tiny bubble of guys pushing the moshers away from me protecting me from getting knocked into the ground.
Sure rapist space skeletons of the grim and frostbitten north drilling a newborn with an auger while summoning nyarlothatep and satan at the same time is metal, in theme only.
The metal fan culture, though, in order of importance is about three things: The music, staying united in friendship and booze.
Due to my past with addiction of both booze and other drugs, I don't do the last.
I joined a mosh pit once when I was at a concert with some friends and it was beautiful
I got knocked down and the second I hit the ground I was already back on my feet thanks to some strangers helping me up
Restored my faith in humanity that night
If you join a mosh pit you shouldn't be surprised to get pushed around.
I gotta say I find metalheads usually emotionally fucking stupid and unpleasant, at least in my experience, but generally moshpit manners are quite good.
One time I accidentally stopped an entire circle pit because I tripped and fell on my stupid faggot face. Everyone stopped to make sure I was good :v:
Sorry for my ignorance but what's a mosh pit? And a wall of death?
Early reports indicate that a man was unhappy after being pushed around in the pit
Much like this guy, I'm not big on pits.
Totally unlike this guy though, I just don't go in em.

A pit is a space in the crowd that clears and then everyone jumps in and moshes, a wall of death is basically just an old school medieval battle type deal, the crowd separates and then charges back into each other.

Really? I find it the opposite, they're almost always nice people. The ignorant metalheads who argue on youtube isnt people I'd fit into the group.
Was at a festival in August and as I was leaving one of the concerts to wait for another band at another stage, some dude engaged in waltz with me and gave me a plectrum from a previous band as thanks for not being rude to his drunk self for randomly taking me to dance with him during the song.
Seriously, metalheads are some of the nicest people I know.

It's when you get into a group of them. At least in my experience, every one of them was a flunky drama starter.
In NJ though they are all hardcore-style hipsters that don't know how to mosh. Like look at this shit:

So wait does that mean the "cholo" was the guy who was stabbed? Going by the reaction of people who said "fuck that guy" who was stabbed
Tough guys are usually the reason some Mosh pits go wrong. In small pits, usually everyone stops as soon as someone falls to the ground and only continue when said guy is out of the circle or in shape to continue.
Then you have these idiots trying to just keep on or even slam into people outside the circle on purpose. Mostly its not just one person, but a full group.
By the way this band (Cattle Decapitation) is fucking awesome. Such a shame this happened at their show.

This so much. The only people I keep in touch with from my high school are the metalheads because they were actually the nicest people in my school. They accepted me into their group when nobody else did.

I remember going down in my first pit. I got pulled up by 3-4 guys before I had time to realize what happened.
Metalheads are cool but some bands (Slayer) have a large following of neo-nazi scum. I've never seen anyone get seriously hurt on purpose, just crowd surfing gone wrong and other accidents
