Red Dwarf XI and Red Dwarf XII begin production in the autumn before airing on Dave in 2016 and 2017. Co-produced by Grant Naylor Productions and Baby Cow Productions, Red Dwarf XI and XII are written and directed by Doug Naylor. The series once more reunites Chris Barrie as Rimmer, Craig Charles as Lister, Danny John-Jules as Cat and Robert Llewellyn as Kryten. Red Dwarf XI and XII are commissioned by Richard Watsham, Director of Commissioning at UKTV, ordered by Dave General Manager, Steve North and will be overseen and executive produced for UKTV by Simon Lupton, Commissioning Editor at UKTV. The Executive Producer for the production company is Baby Cow's Henry Normal, and the Series Producers are Richard Naylor and Kerry Waddell. Doug Naylor said: "Steve North and everyone at UKTV have been so supportive of Red Dwarf from the start of their involvement with the show. Steve originally asked for more shows back in 2012 but frustratingly it's taken until now to get our ducks in a row and all the boys available at the same time. Now they are, we're all absolutely delighted."
I've never seen this show, is it about a type of star, a communist who is small in stature, or Gilbert Gottfried's penis?
It will never be as good as the originals.
THis show just doesn't die does it. Not saying its a bad thing.
I thought Red Dwarf X was a pretty decent way to end it. They relied a lot more on CGI for Back to Earth and Red Dwarf X, and there was just something about it that wasn't quite as good as the old series. I'm watching the first series on Dave right now and there's a certain charm about it that just wasn't there with the newer episodes. It'll be interesting to see how these new series will turn out though and I'll definitely give them a watch.
Oh my god yes. Too bad it isn't on Netflix in the US anymore :(
Can't wait, any excuse to see the old team back together will do me!
It will never be as good as the originals.
I've never disliked any series so far. 2-6 were the best, but keep them coming, I say.
It will never be as good as the originals.
As long as it's good in general, keep them coming.
Can't wait for the new seasons. Red Dwarf is one of my favorite shows.
In original series you had a bunch of "losers" in their twenties with which you could relate to and have fun. But watching a bunch of guys in their forties act like that is not funny, but sad. Same happened with Dumb and dumber sequel. Don't get me wrong I loved the originals and watched them all way back in the 1990's.
I thought this was already known? They were talking about at the Red Dwarf panel at MCM London last year.

Doug Naylor is alright, but they worked better as a duo.

I'm far to pleased about this..
Well they gotta fill in the time where there would be new Top Gear episodes. But I'm excite.

Anyone who complains about more Red Dwarf can promptly fuck right off. Even with the ageing cast this show is still pretty damn up there in the "damn. I should watch that.." scale. Though it won't have quite the same magic the older stuff did.
when i was a kid i'd watch a rerun of red dwarf every night. good shit
At this rate they are going to be immortal How many times have they come back now? Three times?
Don't tell me I've gotta bust out my old Red Dwarf drive to recap, loaded with every season including back to earth :v:
At this rate they are going to be immortal How many times have they come back now? Three times?
4 times there have been major breaks in-between seasons of Red Dwarf including current gap between seasons 10 and 11. I didn't think it would, but Red Dwarf X just worked for me. This is good news! It's cold outside...
Well spin my nipple nuts and send me to Alaska! Wasn't sure I'd see Red Dwarf on air again. Good news
