Are the growths a homage to the tumors that killed him?
what are the they even meant to represent?
Did Shia Lebouf design it? Now we just need one designed by Bill Gates for Steve Wozniak and the church of Apple is complete
looks like they just took a bust of him and welded it to a pillar of steel, then realised that wasn't enough seriously go make an actual classy statue [editline]27th February 2014[/editline] [t]http://www.teslasociety.com/pictures/victoria/npic15.jpg[/t] what ever happened to reasonable statues like this
Oh god, the 1 and 0, that's way too cheesy

It seems kind of... Dildo-esque.
Nice to see they pre-vandalized it to prevent vandalism. That's like Apple level innovation.
this is truly arte
It's too deep for you plebeians to possibly comprehend.
Now they've got to list it as 2x more than it's actually worth, and release a new statue every year with a couple minor changes and claim it's the hot new shit.
I guess the 0 and 1 are a reference to where he started and his role in the evolution of computes. But what do the cyrillic letters mean is what i wonder
[t]http://www.teslasociety.com/pictures/victoria/npic15.jpg[/t] yes because we're in the 19th century still. steve jobs was innovative & hip and a boring statue like that wouldn't really fit him. i don't think that unveiled statue fits him either though but art is art so get over it.
Just make it aluminum and thinner. That'll do the trick.

Upper Left - The hilt of the sword that apparently stabbed Steve Jobs Upper Right - E in fancy font. Bottom: 010101 which references binary and stuff wow so deep
this is truly arte
Where's dai when you need him.
yes because we're in the 19th century still.
ya but people actually get a sense of who telsa was from a statue like that, 25-50 years people won't get a sense of who he was from that post-modernist piece of crap, a statue is supposed to capture a living moment forever in stone/iron/bronze for the future generations to get a glimpse of their personality, id rather a much nicer statue of him in life than have a big 1 with a bust of him welded to it
The interesting design was selected from more than 10,000 entries
I would like to see some of the other entries.
It should've been more extravagant
ya but people actually get a sense of who telsa was from a statue like that, 25-50 years people won't get a sense of who he was from that post-modernist piece of crap, a statue is supposed to capture a living moment forever in stone/iron/bronze for the future generations to get a glimpse of their personality, id rather a much nicer statue of him in life than have a big 1 with a bust of him welded to it
it can, but it doesn't have to be. all it has to do is capture their likeness to a recognizable degree, it doesn't have to be an exact replication of his person.
Looks really low quality.
Where's dai when you need him.
here to tell everybody that the statue is a piece of garbage and also classy statues still exist not sure what to expect when the 'beaten dead horse' stereotype for an apple fan is an obnoxious hipster who appreciate avant garde bullshittery
Are the growths a homage to the tumors that killed him?
They're knife hilts and they represent all the backs he stabbed to get to where he was. Also hey look I made the monument ten times better

This is typically what I think when I see a statue. When I see what they made I just feel sort of confused.
Its sad to see such attention given to someone who made little to no direct contributions to computing as we know it. While I hate disrespecting a dead person like this I do wonder where is the statue for Dennis Ritchie who died only a few days before Steve Jobs and only got reported on twice; without this man we might very well be without one of the most fundamental programming languages which is used so heavily in software development. I know Dennis Ritchie had a Fredora and FreeBSD release dedicated to his honour but its just so fucking sad and depressing that he has not had more attention than Steve Jobs.
It goes against pretty much everything he stood for and promoted in his life.
iPez dispenser :v:
Damn that's one phallic design
