• What music do you listen to whilst creating?

I think music has quite an influence on what I produce when drawing and the mood of the piece. Personally, I enjoy John Scofield and Bill Frisel (jazz fusion guys.) Bill Frisel - Probability Cloud: John Scofield - Bump: How about you guys? (Oh, and sorry if this should be a "Post Your" in Fast Threads, but I figure the creative type hang here more often.)
i'm not a fan of jazz, also i can't really draw/paint anything unless i listen to music (usually). I listen to a lot of instrumentals, usually off sound tracks, which work the best i find when in my creational mode.. like red panda handing me the sound tracks he managed to ask the guy for who made this The halo series has a lot of excellent creative sound tracks that i love Apocolyptica has some of the most insane chello playing ever. one of my favorites from them one hellofa song to get you going through an art piece
Anything by Rush or Dream Theater - They often paint nice far off lands and really interesting scenes in my mind. Natural Science by Rush for example. Classical Stuff. Barber Of Seville Flight of the Valkyries Claire De Lune To name only a few.
Queens of the stone age get me in the right mood. Lullabies to paralyze has that underlying darkness to it that brings out my creative side.
Jesus Lizard, Big Black, Melvins, etc.
Nothing in particular, just whatever is on my playlist at the time.
The Mars Volta - Ambuletz
I listen to a lot of electronic, like Aphex Twin or Sqarepusher. Sometimes Amon Tobin.
Drawing/modelling/rendering is usually a rather passive exercise for me (compared to writing which usually requires a decent amount of concentration). I'll listen to whatever I'm in the mood for while doing visual art. When I write I usually work in silence. If I feel the need for some music I'll take any classical/foreign music that fills that noiseless space while not distracting me.
Nujabes, Dj Shadow, Cool Calm Pete, Fat Jon. and theres a shit load more but i just can't think of anymore. Anything relating to hiphop/hiphop beats (instrumental) I prefer the beats to have piano in it. Example. (I recommend the first link)
Crystal Castles - Untrust Us The Gaslight Anthem - Red In The Morning And the Westminster Choir's rendition of the Choral Ode to Joy!
Fuck yeah crystal castles!
Crystal Castles sound like the music from the iPhone game Edge.
I tend to listen to whatever I have playing on my Sansa. Last night I had Ego by Beyonce and Kanye West playing along with some Redman.
Muse, Crossfade, Pendulum (best band ever), Infected mushroom, The used, and weezer!
Anything from Heavy metal to house, mainly fast paced stuff but sometimes stuff like Moby.
The music I'm working on :v:. And I listen to music of the genre I'm creating to check if I'm getting close/doing it right and/or wrong etc.
I either listen to VNV Nation, or Sublime. Or VULPvibe stuff :v:
Usually electronic. If I'm not in the mood, anything on my "most played" play list.
Probably Demon Hunter, my favorite music from them is My Heartstrings Come Undone.
She & Him, Regina Spektor, The Shins, Death Cab for Cutie, Parry Gripp.
Country(The good kind, not the anytown, Texas-country), electronica, rock'n'roll and lots of other shit.
I usually listen to solo guitarists (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteem, Tony MacAlpine, John Petrucci, Buckethead, Jimi Hendrix, Paul Gilbert), to ambient music (Zoe Keating, Thomas Newton, Ty Burhoe), all the way up to heavier classics and newer metal/alt. rock (Protest The Hero, Ozzy, Pantera, Emery, Led Zeppelin, Muse, Pink Floyd). It really depends upon what I'm doing. If I'm laying down a first thought, sketching, thinking of ideas, I listen to the ambient music to soothe and let myself unwind. When I'm adding details, getting more technical, and/or being more expressive working on an idea, I usually get into the heavier stuff I can jam with. And, when I'm gritting down and doing something repetitious or whatnot, the soloing guitarists take the stage, lol. I'm a guitarist myself, so I kinda sidetrack myself a little with the riffs while doing work. It's all depending on taste :]
electronica,indy rock,classical rock.
Eminem
Counts on what i am making. If i want to make something bad ass i listing to gabber hardcore. if not, doesn't care as long as it sounds good :)
Today i started to listen Mirror's edge sound track, i love it the songs are very long and go well in the background while I'm modeling and stuff.
Usually rock, like weezer.
Some examples of what I listen to while I work. I work with 3D Modeling, VFX, C++ programming. Jose Gonzales - Heartbeats _ghost - Lullaby Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
