I know it was in the mega-thread, but I felt like it needed its own separate thread. Especially since it seems to be a contrast to the Jimquisition video posted here.
Heads up for the people who don't want anything spoiled. First bit of the video contains footage of the Institute.
I love these types of his videos the most.,

Imagine calling spoilers by giving away even more spoilers than the video did.

Ironic shit posting is still shit posting.
I feel like TB is right in that by blacklisting people you are removing opinions, but that you shouldn't be surprised that they do so if you post such articles as the one on ubisoft and sexism. On the other hand I feel like this is more of an issue with source criticism from the consumer.
Well, he's not wrong that it's essentially silencing one of the opinions you could use to help guide you on whether or not a game is good before you buy it, but...
Kotaku is just such an absolute garbage website. Is it honestly really any loss that we lose their pre-release opinion on some games? They're one of the last places I would go for that. It's like reading a tabloid paper for movie reviews. There are tons of other places and people you can rely on for game reviews.
And I don't think sites like Kotaku getting blacklisted by publishers sets some kind of bad precedent for other sites to tiptoe around and cater to publishers in order to ensure they don't get on the list too. As he also pointed out, Kotaku, Polygon, and other garbage game sites like them are known for absolute waste-of-time biased "interviews" and ridiculous sensationalist articles that often cast a bad light on game developers and publishers. That's got to be one of the major factors in their blacklisting. I don't think more professional sites which would never do shit like that really have to worry about being treated like Kotaku is.
It's weird seeing people being this "morally righteous" over this. I mean you can tell throughout this entire thing that TB really REALLY doesn't want to side with Kotaku, but does so on principle alone, Jim Sterling is the same way as well. The thing is, people should be fully able to take things like this on a case by case basis. Just because we enjoy the fact that Kotaku's bullshit finally bit it in the ass does not mean that we have to automatically celebrate shit that Konami tries to pull with Superbunnyhop or Jimquisition. Kotaku pulled some shady business which made Bethesda respond (by not responding), they leaked the entire game script, that's awful for Bethesda and honestly not any better or worse for the consumer. We're big boys, we can handle a little gray area, the world isn't black and white.
i cant wait for beth to blacklist journalism outlets that talk about gamebreaking bugs and crashes before their games come out
Sorry but you actually have to watch the OP's video before saying stupid stuff.
As much as I hate Kotaku, I still think that they shouldn't have been blacklisted, maybe punished in a way for leaking scripts and that sorta thing, but not blacklisted.
Maybe a 3 strike warning.

Considering that most companies aren't Konami and are fine with criticism...
Disagree with TBs last point. People matter and should be discussed. They define games, the games industry and games media.
activision dmcas videos of cod exploits/gamebreaking bugs
wb had a pretty strict pre-release video policy for shadow of mordor, basically boiling down to "make sure the game looks good and don't say anything bad about it or we will fuck you"
nintendo's whole lets play fiasco, and their actions in the past (they tried to make game rentals in america illegal throughout the 80s and 90s)
ofc tb already mentioned 2 of the above, but it's still worth elaborating on
None of these are censoring criticism. Most of that is companies wanting to monetize their IPs and some of that is just shady behavior but not censorship of legitimate criticism.
Jim Sterling in his video tried to take the shittiness of Kotaku out of the equation but thats nonsense. That matters. I wouldn't judge anybody for denying DailyMail tier journalists special access and press passes.

You seem to think this means Kotaku is not allowed to do any content from these publishers. All it means is they don't get interviews or review codes. It doesn't seem that bad for Kotaku anyways as a lot of their articles pertaining certain games comes at launch month.

You people who call this spoiler I don't get you, I mean almost in the very first hours you hear about institute in the game and from trailers you hear about it, image/video of it isn't that much of a spoiler because you still don't know where it is or how to get there, it is much of a spoiler like looking a picture of Diamond city before you get there.

Also I would consider [sp]X-01[/sp] which have been posted thousands of times even on LMAO pics be more of a spoiler because you have literally 0 idea it exists in the game.
Blacklasting because of criticism is fucked up. "blacklisting" because you break an agreement not to leak shit with a publisher just because you swindled your way out of an NDA is absolutely 100% fucking justified.
Furthermore, kotaku maintains their own blacklist, they dont get to complain about it when they'd already been blacklisting for years.

Kotaku has done well more than 3 things to warrant getting blacklisted
[editline]26th November 2015[/editline]
Think of it like this: do you guys cry foul because Daily Mail is banned from Facepunch?
A real journalism website should take blacklists in stride and not bitch about them (while having their own blacklists) because they're not getting free games and exclusive interviews. A blacklist doesn't stop Kotaku from reviewing Bethesda's games and it doesn't stop them from reporting on them, it just means they aren't given that information by Bethesda.
VideogamerTV are blacklisted by multiple publishers, they just stream the games they can't get early for review when they release and take the piss out of companies for thinking a blacklist will shut them up.

The funny thing is that they don't even know for sure if its true
so STUPID
that's where i disagree, breitbart and huffpo correspondents should both get press passes to political events and whatnot even if they are on the extreme side of both spectrums
I'm not talking about their opinions. I'm talking about their behavior.

Also Ironic that Kotaku and other "journalists" are on the blacklisting path right now.
As much as I hate Kotaku, I still think that they shouldn't have been blacklisted, maybe punished in a way for leaking scripts and that sorta thing, but not blacklisted.

but they leaked fallout 4, assassin's creed unity, and assassin's creed syndicate.
that's 3 strikes already.
arguably you could say companies using dmcas to make sure there's no videos of their games on youtube are censoring for that reason among other things

it's just another tool publishers have at their disposal to control the flow of information, this means that there is now 1 less pre-release review for bethesda/ubisoft games (if the post-release embargo didn't already fuck everyone else)
all of those are bad IMO and those companies are in the wrong
however, bethesda refusing to talk with people who leaked proprietary information is not on the same level as refusing to talk with people who discuss problems with a game
