Turns I already have it, I went onto the store expecting to have to buy it but I instead was greeted with being able to straight up download it.
so this is just PA + the DLC? why the fuck would i wanna buy the game again to get DLC? thats pants on head retarded
[editline]18th August 2015[/editline]
from steam forums:
We made it stand alone expansion as we felt it adds more than most DLC. We adjusted pricing for anyone who previously owned the game to get it to you at a more DLC price of 66% off to make it less of an investment. We also gave it free to anyone who backed the game on Kickstarter. Our goal was to make it cheap for previous PA players so as to make it feel fair, while making future players not have to buy multiple products to enjoy the game.
...yet the discount on the store says 'offer ends october 18th'. so if i even wanted to actually buy it i wouldnt be able to until november as i just bought MGSV, at which point id be paying $40 to buy the fucking game again and some new units. are you fucking kidding me? what a goddamn gyp. and what the hell kind of reasoning is that they felt 'uhhhhhhh we felt it adds way more than the usual DLC so we made a whole new base game.' dude just fucking add it as DLC to regular PA. this isnt like the improved dark souls 2 where they had actual good reasoning to make it a new game, all youve done is add in new units, thats not impossible to do with the PA you already released.
and even better:
So why are you continuing to sell the previous version?

Because the request to turn off purchasing for it has not gone through Valve yet :(
so just, what now? are these two PAs gonna be different versions that are unplayable with each, and you cant even fucking buy the old one anymore? gee thanks for wanting to kill the online of the PA that i bought, thats real thoughtful of you.
what
it costs money?
lol what a trainwreck of a game
from an expensive broken piece of unfinished shit, to an even more broken piece of unfinished shit that renders the old one even more broken and even more shit.
I love this game, I've been getting really into it over the past few days but right now charging that much for DLC seems insane even if it does look really cool.
Holy SHIT 50 dollars for a feature that should have been in the game in the first place?
No, fuck off. You can pay less for the original supreme commander + expansion, and supreme commander 2 + dlc, and then buy the total annihilation complete pack. Why the fuck does this cost more then the original game?
I really love PA and I will defend it although the base game lacks a lot of content. This however looks REALLY fucking cool. I'll definitely buy it.

It's on sale for 15$ right now.

Fucking chill out. Jesus. Wait for it to launch before you crucify them.

40 dollars, if you don't own the base game. Plus it comes with all the base game features.
I thought one of the complaints about the game was that it didn't have much content. This seems like the sort of thing that should have been a free update.
Fucking chill out. Jesus. Wait for it to launch before you crucify them.
seeing as how they want me to pay for balance patches now, and not making the discount permanent for whatever reason, no they can go fuck themselves at this point
48 dollars in CAD, I own the base game, still not buying it for 15 dollars. I'll pick it up when it's on sale in two years for 5 dollars, and knowing this game, that WILL happen.
Seriously, do not give these people money. They want you to pay for a feature that was basically necessary for the game to be any fun at all or even strategic for that matter.
Uninstalling, never going to play this again. Fuck that noise, not spending money on stuff that shoulda been in there for free, especially since its kickstarter based and takes on supercom roots.
Another reminder that Uber abandoned SMNC for this game
Whenever I play PA I always feel like there's a 'tier' of units missing, I end up at this point where I wanna build bigger stuff but it just doesn't exist. Looks like this pack adds that in, but it seems a bit cheeky to make me pay for it. I got the original game for something like £5, so I guess I'll just wait until this goes on sale for cheap before I pick it up.
Wait, what, one of the features advertised is levels with multiple height areas.
That's a feature?
Imagine charging money for something that should've been a free update to divide your already relatively tiny playerbase
Uber is a terrible company with terrible business practices and regularly looks for ways to fuck their customers over for money. After they "released" PA they launched a Kickstarter with a goal of 1.4 MILLLION, and when that failed they laid off a ton of employees from their company.
Do not give these people money and don't support them.
Yeah, been a big fan of this game for some time when I got it for a cheap price, but seeing this? It's a fucking disgrace. Fuck Uber.
Seems like backers got the DLC for free.
Is this game even worth buying?
Actually, before I spend 15$ Cad on this, I'll wait for a review.
Is this game even worth buying?
PA is good fun but feels unfinished, I assume this is the missing piece of it packaged up as a new game and on sale again.
Okay so lets go into some hypothetical world where you are someone who has never bought into PA but loved supcom and would easily pay $60+ for another take on that style of RTS so frankly could give a rats ass if it costs $40
Is this stand alone expansion version worth getting and fun

yes imo but wait for reviews
frankly, uber was kinda between a rock and a hard place with PA
PA was released way too early on early access, so it had shitty steam reviews, people gave it a chance and then would never come back
the backlash to human resources most likely made them not want to announce anything
realistically this was probably their best bet to get new players interested
Another reminder that Uber abandoned SMNC for this game
While true, SMNC never made a profit, so it's understandable that they abandoned it. It is entirely their own fault though, (releasing too early, splitting playerbase, not listening to feedback, ect.)

I've got an inside source at Uber and this is pretty much the situation. They didn't release PA with all the features they wanted, and Titans is a chance to try to give PA new life. Right now PA's review scores are based largely off of how it was at launch, and they've made a boatload of updates since. With Titans being a standalone release they hope they can get fresh reviews that take into account all the new features they've been adding over the past year. That's why they're also closing sales on the original PA, because they acknowledge that it wasn't the product it should have been, and Titans is what PA was meant to be.
As for charging for it, the other problem Uber's faced with is that they are running out of money, and Titans is pretty much their last chance to save the company.

I find that very optimistic, as sad as that final statement might be.
