this is like a polite howtobasic
this is so dangerously close to being convincing
this is so dangerously close to being convincing
You can clean all your parts. I cleaned my graphics card with dish detergent and now I get a 50% boost in performance.
I love this guy
this is so dangerously close to being convincing
what are you talking about this is the right way to clean your motherboard full of viruses. i did this and it has no filthy virus now
Probably wouldn't break it
Wondering this too. As long as it dries fully and there is nothing funny in the soap shouldn't it be just fine?
Must be an old mainboard when it still has a Northbridge and a Southbridge.

Not too sure about all the cleaning chemicals but they shouldn't damage soldered connections right? He should have said microwave instead of drying machine at the end, too. Capacitors in a microwave are always fun.
this is so dangerously close to being convincing
To be honest if you leave it to dry for a few days in a warm place it likely will work fine unless some of the minerals in the water or any film is left over from the cleaners is present.
I just can't find this type of humor funny... "Oh look! I'm doing something that I know is the incorrect way of doing it! Hilarious!"
I just can't find this type of humor funny... "Oh look! I'm doing something that I know is the incorrect way of doing it! Hilarious!"
Nah its just this guy he smells of cringe.
You can clean all your parts. I cleaned my graphics card with dish detergent and now I get a 50% boost in performance.
Psh dish detergent, i bake all of my graphics cards

[editline]21st July 2014[/editline] My Uncle repairs laptops from time to time and the biggest issue with them normally is spills. This is pretty much what he actually does minus the soap, he just rinses off the motherboard in water and lets it dry for a few days, works most of the time unless the board got fried when the spill happened.

There's just little effort or comedic value here.
Can't you also let the motherboard rest in rice for a while to absorb any remaining moisture when you are done? I've done it with a couple of laptops (friends and family) and it just shortens the time you need to make sure the parts are completely dry.

It is also a good idea to clean your power supply too. The fan often gets lots of dust in there so you should open the case and spray water and rub the soap with your hands to make sure there is no ripped sponge material inside.
This is not safe, you can seriously hurt yourself doing such things.
Aw man way to ruin the fun. Party pooper...
This is not safe, you can seriously hurt yourself doing such things.
Yeah, the power supply will hold a charge for quite some time after being unplugged. Enough amperage in those things to straight kill a man.
I've spilt some dodgier stuff over my computer than this while it was on(alcohol). It'll probably survive.
Fixed it. On another note it would sound convincing as fuck to someone who wouldn't know about electronics and their inner workings
This isn't a bad idea provided you take out the cmos battery, discharge the board and only use distilled water and a light brush. If you let it air dry for a few days you shouldn't have any issues.

holy shit this guy looks exactly like the child of andy samberg and michael cera
You can clean all your parts. But it gave me 100 more watts!
Probably wouldn't break it
I have a feeling that you'd have a lot of conductive crap left over from the soap after it dried out and maybe it would short something once you turned it back on.

The sad thing is that you can actually use toothpaste or peanutbutter as a temporary thermal paste... :v:
