"Obamacare website glitches are unacceptable" - Obama
69 replies, posted
(CNN) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday expressed disappointment with glitches in the Obamacare website, more than two weeks after the launch of HealthCare.gov.
“I am the first to acknowledge that the website that was supposed to do this all in a seamless way has had way more glitches than I think are acceptable and we’ve got people working around the clock to do that,” Obama told KCCI, a CNN affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. “We’ve seen some significant progress but until it’s 100% I’m not going to be satisfied.”
A high volume of visitors to the health insurance exchange portal contributed to the technical problems that have plagued the website, making it more difficult for individuals to begin the enrollment process.
Despite the consistent problems, the president touted the health care law, saying it enables those seeking coverage to purchase private insurance, compare the prices of different plans and receive a tax credit to make it affordable.
He's right. Bugs in a website can really make it frustrating.

Really?
All it did for me since it was enacted is increase my premiums over a 6 month period 104.7% (from $127 to $260 a month.) I've had the policy since 2005 and before the ACA went into effect, it would only increase once a year, and only by 2-8%; Mostly due to adjusting for inflation.
Oh and when the "acceptable policy" provision went into effect just recently, I've been informed my policy will be cancelled on December 31st. The sole reason it will be cancelled is because my policy doesn't have free yearly checkups with my doctor. But I really didn't care about that because it was only a $15 copay.
GG Obama for hiking my insurance over 100% and then taking it away.
But it's not finished yet.
Getting a new plan that falls under the "acceptable policy" that has the exact same coverage options as my current plan has from any insurance carrier starts out at $350 a month, or a 34.6% increase on my current plan. And I don't qualify for any of these "Tax Credits" that are supposed to make it cheaper.
So GG again Obama for taking away my health coverage, which I really have needed these past several months due to having both of my legs crushed in a construction accident and doing shit all to replace it. Also thanks for the 139.4% increase in my insurance costs for no reason.
Is this like when Facepunch goes down?

Yeah, but without the really bad GIF of a rotating disco ball and funny messages.

i can't see this as being true at all
i can't see this as being true at all
It's likely true, but only because insurance companies are doing all they can to destroy Obamacare because now they can't screw people over for having e.g. pre-existing conditions.

No, Obamacare is actually just shit.
Seriously, I don't have insurance for basically the same reason as GiGaBiTe.

can't find anywhere saying there's individual plans for $350 or more, even for gold plans. Highest one I found was $330
if I knew where GiGaBiTe lived I could get more accurate info but i can't

I as well as several million other people fall into a "hole" where the ACA doesn't provide. I'm not poor enough to qualify for any sort of rebate or credit (I'd have to make literally half of what I make now in order to qualify) nor do I have enough money to afford a $350 a month policy.
The only way I've been able to afford insurance these past few years is my parents help me pay for it. If it weren't for them, I'd be up shit creek without a paddle.
a silver plan for me would be with a $60,000 salary would be 2,700 or like $219 a month

there's medicaid too, if your state chose not to take it I'm sorry, but that isn't really ACA's fault, that's your shit state. I also still can't see how you're getting a $350 monthly premium, but I could be wrong since I don't know where you live
Honestly, America will always be a backwards country until it has proper healthcare.
But, the american mentality of "ME ME ME ME ME ME FUCK YOU" will probably mean it'll never happen.

They're scared of "socialist medicine". Seriously, in this day and age, it is pathetic. I can't believe that people actually go bankrupt in order to fund their cancer treatment.

Yeah my state is shit because Democrats passed a disaster of a healthcare law that fucked up people like me. You're using every conceivable excuse under the sun to defend a horribly written piece of legislation, just fucking stop.
Notice how I was better off before the ACA came along and fucked everything up? It's not my states' fault, or mine, it's Obama and the Democrats.
I wouldn't want Medicaid/Medicare regardless, they're terrible options. Several members of my family were on it at various points in time and getting anything done with those policies was literally hell. Along with not covering a laundry list of things, they couldn't see their own doctors and not all medication was covered.
Between the 99 percent average increase in insurance costs for young men, the tax penalty for not having insurance and the clusterfuck of a program launch, I'm rapidly becoming against "Obamacare". I can't see how this legislation benefits anyone other than those denied insurance due to pre-existing conditions.

all i said was I don't believe that you have a $350 monthly premium
also medicaid was expanded, so it would be better and it's still an option for some people if states didn't outright turn down the coverage (not ACA's fault)

It entirely depended on what pre-existing condition you had. I had shingles and got a statement from my insurance company that they wouldn't cover any future shingles related stuff. It wasn't a problem for me because the medication for it is cheap.
Most pre-existing conditions were setup like that, where you could still get insurance, it just wouldn't cover whatever problem(s) you had. Sometimes though you could pay higher premiums to get the condition covered.
While I think pre-existing conditions were ridiculous, it was one less excuse the insurance companies could use to hike your rates.

You're correct, I don't have a $350 monthly premium. That would take effect in January if I opted to get an insurance plan similar to the one I currently have.
I can always get cheaper plans that don't cover everything I have now, but seeing as I needed what I have for the past several months, I'm not keen on downgrading.

Local and State level government isn't that terrible, it's when it gets to a national level do things start fucking up.

Rick Perry is a state governor. that is a failure of every system America has ever had
Rick Perry is a state governor. that is a failure of every system America has ever had
He is a failure at some things, but one thing he isn't a failure at is managing the state budget. While other states (eg. California) are literally bankrupt, Texas is one of the few states that weathered the financial crisis and has a GSP that nearly rivals Canadas' entire GDP.

i find it flip flopped, like my state opting out of medicaid because they just want to be fucking spiteful over the increase. they said they couldnt afford it, but HOW, they only start making them pay for it after like 7 years or something and its still only 10% of the total cost. no the falcons need a new stadium so we have shit health care for the poor and sick, women and children, but at least we can wave our dicks around our brand new stadium.

you want to know why? texas makes up almost 75% of the population of canada as a whole. and they may be somewhat close in GDP, but the GDP doesnt count for standard of living. the poverty rate for canada is at 9.7% for the whole country, while texas is at 16.7%.
WIC and CHIP has much of that covered. And if the family qualifies for that, they can generally get regular medicaid/medicare.
Obamacare is projected to cost in excess of a trillion dollars, 10% of that would be 100 million dollars, which is an enormous amount for a state to absorb.

over 3 years, thats fucking chump change if the state buckles down on it's budget, prime fucking example is the new falcon's stadium will cost $947 million to make as an estimate. stop blindly blaming obummer care when its your own insurance/state thats fucking you over.

he is such a colossal failure of an empathetic human being that i don't see how his economic policy is in any way relevant or ever will be.
dude has a straight-up murder boner, to the point that he is willing to hideously corrupt the cause of justice to prevent people from examining his policies, and once killed a guy who was legally innocent in order to not alienate Republicans in his presidential bid. also, he vetoed a bill meant to prohibit the execution of the mentally handicapped.
oh, and he also hates gays super hardcore, the point that he made it his entire political platform just on the assumption that everyone was as fucking nuts as he was.
he runs Texas. there is some serious fucking issues going on when this guy - this fucking guy! - can be governor for thirteen years straight (!) despite violating numerous conventions and declarations that are usually agreed to be pretty freaking important to a functional society. the system does not work properly, and the mere fact that there's a place for people like Rick Perry in it is evidence of that.

Thank you for properly explaining the reason I hate my damn governor. He's literally the biggest dickhole.

Texas has a solid economy due to business-friendly tax breaks and less government spending.
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be helping it's citizens much. Texas consistently ranks in the top 10 in terms of poverty and has by far the lowest rate of people without healthcare, more than double the national average.
Just remember that a Republican, Mitt Romney, invented socialized healthcare and then enacted it in his home state of MA. But again, since now its on a national level, "oh no, this is so bad"

you have to wonder if Mitt Romney genuinely used to be good back when he was pro-choice and all that stuff, or if it was just an act like everything else he did in the presidential running. or maybe he never stopped being good and his hateful, incompetent and manipulative persona was also a really weird, ineffective lie?
really he lied so much i think he could literally a T-1000 and we wouldn't know
