I'm not a fucking idiot, I know the difference between Disk Jockey and a Producer
Now I'm not sure where to start. At all. I'm completely lost and need help here. I want to scratch some vinyl and mix shit together.
Can some people help me?
Get some turntables
Thanks captain obvious.
Except I don't know which ones to get, where to get them, or any other stuff like that.
Technics SL1200s.
There are lots of places that sell them, on the internets.
Oh okay, thanks man.
Do I need anything else besides those, and records?
A mixer.
And needles.
Do you possibly know the names of those?
Like specific ones I could buy?
I use a Stanton SA-5 mixer.
Alright cool cool.
Are there any specific needles I need?
This is by far the best handled one of these threads I've ever seen with the best conveyed information.
I know, it's like: Q, A. Q, A. Awesome.
It's like I'm asking questions and getting answers I need without being in the conversation
But now it's ruined, as the answerer will not answer.
How about Digital DJing?
I've got Deckadance right now and I'm working on getting some MIDI turntables. Also, is their anything better than Deckadance besides Ableton?
I find Ableton too confusing.
traktor

Ya I agree.
This is one of the reasons I like TH89 the most out of most mods.
He is good.

I'd get some Shure's
You could also get Serato if you don't like spending tons of money on vinyl, but you're not as cool if you do.
Edit: Do you like hip hop? Or house/techno stuff?

Sweet thanks, I'm just trying to keep my budget low though, so I'll probably stay with Serato, and upgrade to Shure's over time.

Eh, Shure's are needles.
Serato is a program where you use serato vinyl to mix mp3's from a laptop or computer, instead of normal vinyl.
If you're buying 1200's and a nice mixer you're going to be running a decent tab.

Ahh, okay.
Well I'm getting a new job soon and I'm 16 so I really don't need to buy anything besides this.
I have a car and my mommy pays for that.
I would avoid Serato if you're trying to keep it cheap, it's another $500 on top of your turntable setup already.
Also keep in mind that if you want to mix you'll need two turntables and a mixer, but if you just want to learn scratching you can get just one turntable and the mixer to start with, to save money.

True, I forgot how much Serato was. Eventually it would save you money if you bought loads of vinyl, but yea for starting out it's cheaper to the dollar bins.
