Red Faction might be getting turned into a TV show

"THQ's plans for a Red Faction movie may be just the beginning for the Martian sci-fi smash 'em up. The SyFy network-produced made for TV movie may eventually become its own ongoing series.
NBC Universal cable network Syfy is planning a "major expansion of its Syfy Games unit" this year, writes Broadcasting & Cable, which includes more than just the De Blob animated series and Red Faction movie. SyFy is hoping its "big Syfy Saturday movie" turns out to be a "great back-door pilot."
Meaning, the Red Faction's two-hour-long pilot begets a fully-fledged series, similar in style to the science fiction network's Battlestar Galactica, which started life as a mini-series.
Broadcasting & Cable says the deal between THQ and SyFy goes even further, with the SyFy Games division helping to produce "the next iteration of the Red Faction video-game series" and WWE Smackdown, to which THQ holds video game rights, going to SyFy in the fall.
How many of you one-million-strong Red Faction fans are excited?"

oh god......
Would be better if they made it a sitcom.

Damn I love red Faction, a movie could have been awful but a mini-series? This could work.
Red Faction is good because of the destruction, not the story or setting. Why would they make this into a TV show?
oh shit, syfy is amking movies and TV shows about videogames now?
...I totally wanna see a Metroid television drama.
Depends on how they make it/who directs it.
I kinda like the idea. Just hope it doesn't have cheap effects or has a poor plot.
Actually, that could work.
It has potential, however it will fail and be turned into a heaping pile of shit I'm sure.
Not gonna watch it unless it it includes breaking houses with a sledgehammer.
fucking AWESOME

I guess you never played the first red faction

I did see my friend playing it.
I like the idea, miniseries has a lot of time to develop and work on, whereas in a movie you have to compress everything importand into a hour or so long film. Leaving out a lot of stuff, which would just increase the chances of it sucking major ass.
Looking forward to this
Fuck. That. Ruining one of my last favorite series.
I'm getting off here, enjoy the shitty CGI folks.

Why did they become syfy for no reason
This has a potential to be good but it probably won't be because I hate most modern American Sci Fis
Red faction lacks good storyline for a mini series but for the setting I see it working.
The Red faction series is more of a setting than an ongoing storyline anyways.

I'd watch this.
"Mason, did you drive your truck into the EDF base, blow it up along with explosive charges, and then continue to kill everyone inside with a sledgehammer?"
"Maybe"
AUDIENCE LAUGHTER
For some reason I feel this can go quite a way in background story.
Episode 1: Main Character(s) introduced, getting ready for the trip to Mars. Centers around propaganda.
Episode 2: Shuttle is boarded and launched at least somewhere at the start of the episode. Characters explained before begin to interact and friendships/rivalry between them begins.
Episode 3: Arrival at Mars. Characters get set up and throughout the episode begin to get curious about rude behavior from the guards and staff. Mining begins somewhere near the end.
Episode 4: First hints of a rebellion. Otherwise explains more of the story.
Episode 5: Rebellion begins. Whatever happens happens.
I think it should roll like this, just to be time consuming and get the attention of the fans of the series. Being slow about it will develop a back story and you pay more attention to the characters. I don't think it should be directly about Parker, but there should be a reference or two during the rebellion just to please us.

That's another question, which Red Faction is it going to be about? They all have pretty different plots, I'm guessing newest one since it's the newest and probably most marketed.
This isn't that bad of an idea, but it's been a fact that any movie/show made from a video game end up sucking ass.
Directed by: Micheal Bay
This could go any number of ways, kind of depends on the effort SciFi is willing to put into it. They may cheap out and do their usual "We paid for this with $50 and a case of Mountain Dew for the kid who did the effects" thing.
This doesn't seem like the most successful of ideas.
"COME ON PARKER"
TO BE CONTINUED NEXT TIME ON RED FACTION.
No thanks.
I think its going to suck. Whenever they make a game into a movie of series it sucks. like the max Payne movie.

Also the guards better still yell "PARTY TIME."
It could work.

The first one was a wonderful game with a great story.
If the show is like BSG but centered around the first game, I smell a great series.
