I don't think this has been posted before, so enjoy!
Wait, so you can tell if someone has dismantled it? So does that mean you would then void warranty?
I'm only saying this because replacing the hard drive seemed to be a big thing they were going on about, so if doing it voids warranty then it seems a bit dumb they talked about it so much.
Jesus that's compact.
uhhhh looks more like the top panel is just unclipped

It looks like the top can be taken off without effort to get access to the harddrive alone, with only one screw holding it in place.
So no need to take off the other four screws from which they can see that you messed with it yourself, but I could be wrong.
Is it just me or does that seem crazy easy to assemble and disassemble for a console.

Oh, it's kinda hard to tell with that video being 360p and all.
I hope that is the case then.

have you ever tried to disassemble a fat ps2?

This video seems to offer higher quality if it helps.

Also, replaced the OP's video with a 1080p one.
i noticed how there are no proprietary bs as hell sony flat wires in the most difficult places
This is amazing stuff, I'm really impressed by the internal PSU. It's a joke that MS can't fit it in The xbox, even when being way bigger.
• didn't comment on the protective sleeve or buffer boxes when opening the package
• didn't get extreme closeups of the features list on the back of the box
• didn't even mention the heft of the power supply
0/10 unboxing vid
Oh La La~
I'm very surprised at how compact the thing is. I just hope it doesn't have any heat issues.
I find it silly that the Xbox has that huge power generator as a separate thing.

He did a very in depth unboxing. Going as far as to unbox the components even. Cut him some slack.

I've fixed and modded consoles my whole life, well, for the past 15 years, and this has to be by far the easiest disassemble of a "modern" console I've ever seen. Though, I do have to say, the original Xbox, I was able to take apart, solder on a chip and replace in like 15 minutes at my peak.
Wow, the motherboard is so tiny and flat, and most of the space inside the unit is taken up by the fan and heatsink
Impressive
Very impressive engineering, though sadly the size and level of miniaturisation of the components also indicates just how outdated the hardware already is before release.

And I thought it felt spacious inside. It might have to do with the fact that I've only seen laptop internals lately. Btw, what decides the color of the mother board buttom plate? Apple uses black boards and the samsung ones I've seen have been blue

The colour of the board literally up to the manufacturer, green is common because I think it's the easiest colour to print, though any colour can be done now since we have the technology to easily do so.
idk if i like the cpu/gpu on 1 chip.
Looks to be a shitton less of a pain in the ass to disassemble compared to the fat PS3....clips, clips everywhere. Was such a pain to disassemble/reassemble! The layout is much, much better.
I hope there is an easy access slot for changing harddrives, it'd be a shame if there wasn't. Though I have a feeling for once Sony has not underestimated the amount data even the average player will use, so 500GB will probably be more than enough.
Were there seriously no plastic clips or fucking ribbon cables anywhere in the console? holy shit, sleek

There is an easy access slot. You slide the glossy part of the cover out, remove a (non-warranty-voiding) screw, and change the HDD. It's almost like the PS3.
My only concern with that design is that to replace the fan (which is arguably one of the most critical components) you have to disassemble literally fucking everything
idk if i like the cpu/gpu on 1 chip.
It's not a bad design technically, massively lower latency when sending instructions between the two, likely easier access to system memory and the ability to use any cache available between both.
In reality it probably has quite a few issues from heat and such, but the architecture should be designed to mitigate that. It's quite a bit design consideration.
i think the PS4 is pretty ugly, but i bet it's gonna be a good console, I really like the fact that it uses a non-properitary HDD. UNLIKE SOMEONE ELSE

Oh god it fits so well. I am in tears.
Being an electrical engineer, this was basicly porn for me. Hardcore porn.
Sexystation 4
Hot.
Wow, I've stripped my fat PS3 before and this is such an improvement. They really got some smart people working at Sony to be able to design this.
