Iki's Musical and Photoshop Corner (Great Name! :D) - General

(Thread Icon set to 'Art' seeing as that is technically what this mix between Video and PS stuff is) I've never really shared my 'works' with the world, so I thought this would be the best place to do so. The deal is that I work both on Photoshop and music-making. I'm almost certain I'll get pretty much negative feedback, but hey, at least I'm trying. First of all, it's VERY obvious that you're following tutorials. I suggest either waiting until you're more skilled or trying to distance yourself from these before.. uh.. publishing it (or at least posting it in your own thread). Having the ability to follow tutorials isn't skill, nor is it interesting to look at, but it's a step in the right direction.

The fonts you use are mostly terrible too. Keep making stuff, but remember: less is more. You'll get it eventually. As an exercise, maybe try making something with a simplistic color scheme (look up adobe kuler), one sans-serif non-decorative typeface, no obvious gradients, no embossing, no glows minimal drop shadows, NO DIFFERENCE CLOUDS, no swooshie thingies and with simple geometry. Read more design-related blogs/forums/books instead of tutorials.

I'd like to know... :T

look, you're 14? 15? just discovered that you like making fart and so decided to look up a ton of 'cool shit' tutorials for making stuff? at this instance everything you can't/haven't made looks amazing and cool, including all the crappy glittizy effects. You should look at more of the real design houses and less of psdtuts+

I never said I wanted to be a fucking pro and have been using PS for long enough to not need some crappy tutorials. And as I said before, I do also dislike those effects, though most of the those pictures were detailed requests from some friends who asked me to add said effects. Please, just stop making some damn assumptions. It's sad, really.

Why are you letting some guys' opinions on the Internet affect you at all? Nobody here is actively trying to be mean to you, people are actually providing constructive criticism that is directed at your work, and not your person. You should learn to accept that and realize that you don't need to defend yourself so hard.

While I personally think Mako was ribbing him a little bit, he's right that you need to just accept the criticism without getting all uppity and defensive. You're doing yourself no favors here.

I'm not getting defensive either, don't worry. And if you look at my last avatar, I didn't use said 'effects'. I was using them before in my avatars as a shitty reflex and then my friends began asking me to add them into their images, so that didn't help either. I'm thankful that some of you are trying to help me, and besides, I wasn't in the best of moods yesterday. :v:

Just wanted things to be clear. And could someone please tell me how they find my music, even though I'm not very proud of them?

It's not bad but it's just really boring, neither song really delivers any semblance of an "Oh, this is the part where the song gets good," so they end up feeling very average. You need to make sure you have direction in your music, and have a distinctive melody instead of just clucking around aimlessly. Still the overall quality is decent and the sounds aren't bad, it's just that they're written very plainly.
