A US jury has found a man guilty of killing his sick 11-year-old daughter by praying for her recovery rather than seeking medical care. The man, Dale Neumann, told a court in the state of Wisconsin he believed God could heal his daughter. She died of a treatable disease - undiagnosed diabetes - at home in rural Wisconsin in March last year, as people surrounded her and prayed. Neumann's wife, Leilani Neumann, was convicted earlier this year. The couple, who were both convicted of second-degree reckless homicide, face up to 25 years in prison when they are sentenced in October. A lawyer representing Dale Neumann said he would appeal. 'Faith healing' During the trial, medical experts told the court that Neumann's daughter could have survived if she had received treatment, including insulin and fluids, before she stopped breathing. On Thursday Neumann, who is 47 and studied in the past to be a Pentecostal minister, said he thought God would heal his daughter. "If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," he said. "I am not believing what he said he would do." He also said he thought his daughter had had flu or a fever, and that he had not realised how ill she was. Neumann's lawyer said he had been convinced that his "faith healing" was working, and that he had committed no crime. The prosecution argued that Neumann had minimised his daughter's illness and that he had allowed her to die as a selfish act of faith. They said the girl should have been taken to hospital because she was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink. Instead, an ambulance was only called once the girl had stopped breathing. When asked for his opinion on the matter, God said to a BBC reporter: "What the fuck? What did I even give you people pills for?" Here's an idea: When other people's lives are at issue, disregard your religion and adopt a solution that corresponds to reality.
couldn't he have just done both?
Religion: 0 Reality: 1

What a fucking idiot. Stupid prick, praying to God is stupid. God doesn't say to fucking pray to him and expect to be miraculously healed, if it's in your power to do it yourself, you should fucking do it yourself. Praying to God is for shit like "I'm stuck in life. I don't know where i'm going, or what career to take. Please, help me choose the right path." not fucking "God, my daughter is sick, please heal her."
Stupid father christianity doesn't work believe in allah
Good, I hope they rot in prison. Fucking morons.
I am a christian and i wondered why he didn't do both
i laughed a sad laugh, condolences to the kid, let the fucker rot in jail
applies hand to forehead
I am a christian and i wondered why he didn't do both
Because if he did that, then he would believe that he was not putting faith in God by taking the "safe way" out.
More evidence that praying to God is useless.
Religion: 0 Reality: 9000+
fixed
If this isn't proof I don't know what is.
I hope the man get's a manslaughter charge, or at the very least some sort of huge negligence charge, his own child is dead just because of his ignorance.
fixed
You could pretty much just say ∞.
Even if there is a god, I bet he is ashamed of us, dumb humans.
The internet is a very biased place isn't it
When it's a good thing, it's a specific city/state. When it's a bad thing, it's 'American'.
Angels and Demons comes to mind...
I've always wanted to say this. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW
There is none lol.
Goddamn. Even people with religion aren't that dumb. And when they meant jesus healing people, he might be talking about using MEDICINE
This guy needs to rot, but will probably get off scot-free because of the ubiquitous nature of religious nuts like him.
In reality, the dad was just too much of a cheap shit to take his daughter to a doctor, so he chose the cheaper alternative.
applies hand to forehead
Facepalm: Apply directly to the forehead. Also, I really don't know what to say in a serious sense. Where's your "God" now? [editline]Edited[/editline] Just whipped this up, here's what the guy should have used to heal her(tagged so as not to spam up thread):
