An elderly woman has survived being trapped in her bathroom in Paris for 20 days, after the door lock jammed.

The room had no window or phone so the 69-year-old was unable to tell anyone but she tapped on pipes during the night, hoping to alert her neighbours.
They thought the noise was DIY work and started a petition to have it stopped.
But a few people realised they had not seen the pensioner recently and called the authorities, who sent in a rescue crew.
Firefighters broke into her second-floor flat in Epinay-sous-Senart and reportedly found her lying on the ground in the bathroom, in a "very weakened" state.
The woman, who has not been named, had survived on warm tap water for almost three weeks.
She is now recovering in hospital.
"You could hear banging sounds, like a hammer, even at night," one neighbour told local media. "But we thought they were doing work at night. We said: 'They are going too far! They are preventing us from sleeping!' If we had known....'"

i guess this doesn't help people who have a (semi) irrational fear of being trapped in bathrooms...

claustrophobic people
How is warm tap water enough for a old person for three weeks?
How is warm tap water enough for a old person for three weeks?
she ate shit.
How is warm tap water enough for a old person for three weeks?
We can survive much longer without food than we can without water.
Water is way more important than food.

Your body can basically eat itself for food, but it still needs water.
When you have no food your muscles and fat are basically cannibalized by your own body.
And this is why you never let a woman out of the kitchen.

So they called a petition rather than maybe going over to the flat and knocking on the door to see why there was so much noise?
Smart.
I'm glad I didn't read anything about her attempting to eat excrement.
20 days on warm tap water? A 69 year old lady?
Mind = Blown.
There was a spelunker who survived trapped in a cave for two months drinking from murky, worm-infested stagnant pools of water. The human body is very resilient.

haha man ya woman kitchen ur so kreative XD
on a somewhat related note, I feel sorry for the woman. I now have a fear of locks :suicide:
Source?
That's crazy :(
Just a question, why "warm" water?
I remember my grandpa got locked in the bathroom once. I had to hand him tools through the window so he could unscrew the door handle.

I love the human body.
So awesome.
She should have broken the pipe to her sink, then made the bathroom flood. Eventually it would leak into the hallway and people would notice.

she's 69, chances are she's not strong enough to do that
She should have tried screaming at night.
Figures the french can't even fight their way out of a bathroom.
Note to self: Keep either food or a fire axe handy in bathroom.
what the fuck who has that fear
Go in the bathroom after me, you will know the answer to that question. Since I usually get my ass kicked here anyway, I might as well admit my ass to that fact.
Cow Muffins, are you sure the door would of even broke open, after breaking the pipe and the water leak out of there, and she would not drown in the flood? How would she even broken the pipe anyway.
my bathroom has no windows *gulp*

i do a bit. i don't mind toilets if they have a gap at the top or the bottom but the ones that completely close i'm not too keen on. or if there's a tiny window but it's barred over and it's above a 1st floor.
i thought a lot of people had that :saddowns:
