To be honest, no one wants to read your shitty religion thread. Besides, 90% of the time you're trolling. Or the posts in the thread are trolling. Religion is a heated topic and no one really wins. Whether you're athiest, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc, people will still find a way to say "NO YOUR BELIEFS ARE WRONG, FOLLOW MINE!". Even if you're being civilized about, people will be dicks. Besides...
:siren::siren:Bad ideas for threads:siren::siren: School Unfair parents Religion My x hurts/is sick/is dead Parody threads 4chan Mundane crap you did today It's my birthday!! I'm new here Chat-logs Your awful idea for fixing x global crisis. IT SUCKS Dumb video streams Shitty rants that belong on your livejournal or something None of these ever end well so your thread will just get locked. If it's exceptionally awful you'll get banned too, so make these kinds of threads at your own risk!
I am personally Christian but would rather not have any religion news than the hate posts that come from threads about it. People get around the rule by posting news that relates and then it just snowballs and you can't stop it. :/ I would be perfectly fine with the threads since I have been on debate forums who have debates occasionally. It wouldn't work here though because of how many trolls and 13 year old kids we have who don't know what they are talking about. Only a very few facepunchers are actually mature enough to respect others beliefs and I thank them for not making me rage every time I read through a Religious thread. So because of the lack of maturity here I think the Mods would just rather ban the subject all together rather than weed out the immaturity which is probably more than half of the users.
If we keep downsizing the amounts of stuff we can talk about, then we're gonna have nothing else left. Religious arguments on Facepunch can be surprising, occasionally.

Yeah todays been fucking terrible
I opened FP an saw like 10 of those threads at the same time. D:
I dont understand Why do people make them in the first place?
Because conflict is interesting.

It's pretty simple First, there are people living in despair. Then, these people seek for hope, right? And finally, church/religion steps in by giving hope. yay.

My intention wasn't to start anything, I just scribbled down something in the thread (relevent anyway) but that's how religions work. Offering hope for the hopeless, in a nutshell anyway. Of course it has a lot to do about the morals, dont kill, dont steal, and all that bullshit, which we have embraced anyway. So, pointless exercise, if you ask me.
