Australia broke bid and ethics rules, tried to buy votes of decision-makers and then cover up its attempts, and Football Federation Australia (FFA) was “well aware” of the conduct, the report says.
Summary findings of the exhaustive report by the ethics committee of the world governing body FIFA were released on Wednesday. But the author of the full report, US lawyer Michael Garcia, subsequently put out a statement saying the summary did not properly represent his findings.
The federal government tipped in almost $46m for Australia’s bid to host the 2022 World Cup, but Australia gained just one vote. Hosting rights were awarded to Qatar, which was cleared of serious wrong-doing according to the disputed summary.

and now I'm wondering if FIFA is trying to shift the attention from Qatar and Russia
At least we weren't bribing Saddam Hussein this time
FIFA is a piece of corrupt shit.
Bloody waste of good bribe money.

You know Gillard was PM during this... right?
Not that everyone else isn't greasing the palms of FIFA.
The only way to solve this FIFA problem is to have the next World Cup on the Moon.
Holy fuck that would be bad-ass.

Kicking the ball would end up making it leave the moon's gravity.
what did they offer such a paltry amount that fifa was outraged?
like tipping 10% at a restaurant?

I've said it about the Olympics and I'll say it now: All international sports should be held on a giant complex in international waters. The sporting version of Rapture from Bioshock.
Seems like we didn't bribe enough. Australia is such a better choice of country to host the Cup then Qatar and Russia.
