"We are planning a sale sometime this summer," he wrote. "Hope that helps!"
We've reached out to Blaszczak and Valve for a confirmation on this post and any possible updates on the status of the summer sale but haven't heard back from them yet. We'll post an update as soon as we get it. Neither we nor our wallets can stand to wait much longer for a summer sale confirmation either.[/quote]
This would be potentially reassuring if it weren't for the fact that Valve has a particularly loose definition of what constitutes as "Summer".

They are already losing money the longer they hold it as I know myself that I bought a game on Amazon because I didn't feel like waiting for the STEAM summer sales. I'm sure others are doing the same.

EA with Origin talks about how sales reduce the value of games. I look at [I]my[/I] purchasing practices - I haven't bought a game not on sale 75% off on Steam in months, I think - and perhaps that's right.

They probably have a good reason for it that'll (theoretically) make them more money in the long run. Or at least it won't make them screw up something they've planned.

Shortly after that announcement they cut their own prices for such a sale tho. Most people just can't afford $60 titles in addition to the hardware they need to run it, so if you don't cut the price, people will just resort to pirating.

There aren't really any games that I can think of that I don't already own. The only ones I'd want to check out are really new/blockbuster hits and probably won't be less than 25-30 dollars, so I probably won't pick them up on sale anyway.
