Amber and Michael Tilley sued the Peaster Independent School District, Peaster Elementary School employee Julie West and school nurse Debbie Van Rite, in Federal Court. The Tilleys say their three children have been the target of harassment and retaliation by district employees due to their contentious history of requesting appropriate education for their oldest son. The complaint states that West berated and harassed the 8-year-old, third-grade younger brothers on Nov. 15. The parents claim West told the child he "smelled badly, was dirty and that he had bad hygiene," and took him to see Van Rite. They both told the child to disrobe and take a shower in their presence and while another student was in the nurse's office, the parents say. "While P.T. objecting to completely disrobing and taking a shower, defendants West and Van Rite forced P.T. to remove his clothing and began violently washing his body with a washcloth, scrubbing him over a large portion of his body, stuck cotton balls in his ears, all while ridiculing and harassing him about being 'dirty,'" the complaint states. "P.T. was then forced to apply deodorant at the insistence of defendant West and Van Rite, who then told P.T. 'if you ever come to school dirty again[,] we will strip you buck naked and throw you in the shower and scrub you down.'" The parents claim the defendant then warned their child that he and his backpack would be sprayed every morning so he would not smell. When he asked what they were going to spray him with, the defendants said, "it will kill you," according to the complaint. The parents say they filed a complaint of assault and battery with the Parker County Sheriff's Office the next day after noticing their "visibly and severely distraught" child. No charges were filed, but the parents say school employees retaliated against the child for their the police report by excluding him from activities that other students participated in. "These events have caused severe emotional trauma to P.T., to the extent that he is now in therapy and is exhibiting OCD-type behaviors, such as taking numerous baths a day, constantly cleaning his ears, and spraying himself with large amounts of cologne," the complaint states. "P.T. has developed a phobia of getting physically too close to people, out of fear they will say he is dirty or smells, and is traumatized by attending school and continuing to be victimized." The Tilleys seek actual and punitive damages and an injunction for invasion of privacy, illegal search and seizure, retaliation, battery, false imprisonment, child neglect, assault, negligent hiring/supervision and intentional and negligent infliction of severe mental distress. They are represented by Jason Bach in Austin. Weatherford is 30 miles west of Fort Worth.
That's kinda wierd.
Forced shower? Why?
Pretty sure that's illegal. Like, borderline child abuse?
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
Pretty sure that's illegal. Like, borderline child abuse?
Not even borderline - full on.
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
Does it matter?

What[SUB]Why[SUB]What[SUB]Why[SUB]What[/SUB]Why[/SUB]What[/SUB]Why[/SUB]What But seriously this is the weirdest thing I've read this year
What the fuck compels you...
Fun fact: There's such thing as being allergic to the water in showers soaps imagine if that was the case with this kid and he was forced into it. After being harassed that he's dirty... The lawsuits would be so aggressive it'd be unbelievable. Sue anyone even slightly involved...
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
It's in Weatherford, so probably not.
The school should've called the parents and had them pick up the child and discuss with the family how to keep good hygiene instead of taking matters into their own hands.
The school should've called the parents and had them pick up the child and discuss with the family how to keep good hygiene instead of taking matters into their own hands.
This. What in all fuck were these school faculty thinking?
This. What in all fuck were these school faculty thinking?
They weren't.
This. What in all fuck were these school faculty thinking?
Of course, it's entirely possible that they did such a thing before this incident, and the parents didn't do anything about the kid's hygeine.
The lawsuits would be so aggressive it'd be unbelievable. Sue anyone even slightly involved...
That's what my law teacher used to teach us. When you've got a chance at a lawsuit, sue as many people as you possibly can. He was a great teacher.
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
the media would give no fucks
Uh, yeah. School staff or not, I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to strip down a kid, throw him in a shower and then start washing him yourself. That's full on child abuse right there.

I had a bad hygiene problem in middleschool during my depressive years, and I believe they called me down to the nurse's office. Brought me into the bathroom with a shower, locked the door behind me(just myself in there), and told me to take a shower. Don't see a problem with it as long as you aren't getting violated like this story here.
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
Of course not, it would've been said in the first line, second line, fifth line, and last line of the article
But the really stinky kids that never wash really put you off your education though. I know this one guy, he hardly ever washes, so he stinks of rancid BO, his clothes stink of tobacco smoke and he never brushes his teeth, his breath is like that one Spongebob episode. It knocks me sick whenever he's around.
now, i wonder if the kid was of any ethnicity that wasn't white?
what the FUCK how is that in any way possible in the slightest relevant? it's almost as if you're deliberately trying to cause a shitstorm
Reminds me of The Power of One
Really? I berate and taunt my 14yo cousin for his body odor but I would never force him to strip and shower.
Um. I don't see how forcing a child to strip is anything other than some seriously fucked up shit... That isn't right. That's downright fucking harmfully perverted. Those people who did that are seriously messed up and need help.
They did this at my school with a girl who smelled bad. Turns out that she showered every day and it was just the scent of her house that made her smell. Nothing was done because it was all "just a misunderstanding".
Wow your town is shit. Nothing new here though. I know that feel, anyway.
To be far if you don't want your kids to be treated in sutch a manner then don't send her to school covered in disrespectful odour. Otherwise someone will make the issue into his own hands.

It's disgraceful nonetheless, i didn't mean to cause any offence. I do apologise.
