consoles should have stayed away from vr until the next generation, but I guess sony want to cash in while its hot.
All I care about is whether or not PSVR's headset can be hacked to work on PC. Having a headset that cheap would seriously force Occulus and Vive to rework their pricing model.

i think i saw something about that on /r/vive . might already be a thing

it really wouldn't, since it isn't as high quality as the native PC products are

It isn't just cheap. Its price is pretty much directly representative of how much worse it is than other proper headsets.
the biggest problem with console VR is the fact the games have all the pressure to be playable without the headset so they have the broadest userbase, but it shits on their ability to focus on content that's wholly good in VR, negating that entire experience in the first place

for all the sacrifices you're making it's a total loss of the money you spent just to have a hackey garbage experience. Buy somebody's oculus/vive used, there's always disillusioned VR hopefuls looking to cash back out

But they're not? A lot of PSVR games are PSVR exclusive, they can't be played without the headset.
That's just as bad as the Black Ops 3 ports on the ps4 and 360, jesus christ.

I dunno man, the PS4 version was pretty good
TBH I'm glad standard DriveClub is 30fps. Those graphics for DriveClub VR are quite disappointing, but expected.
Reaching 90FPS is not easy if you try to attempt nowadays AAA graphics. This is one of the challenges VR will face, at least until foveated rendering becomes a valid tech.
Inside the cockpit it's not that noticeable, which is where most players will play in VR. The foliage is a lot worse, when comparing, but I wonder if you notice when you're racing around.
As someone who's got like 1,035 stars of the 1,350 in the game (so I've played it a lot), but of course considering I haven't used VR, there were some things I immediately noticed. Eg the lack of coloured flags on the outside of corners, telling you how sharp the corner is. Lack of spectators was another thing, and well the environment just looked empty.
I think it wouldn't be that bad if you never played DriveClub before you got into DriveClub VR. But I don't think I'd be able to stand it.
Same thing happens with the NBA2K VR I think too, the background models look awful.
This is why PC VR asks for a 970 MINIMUM.
Driveclub VR on the PS4 reminds me of Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2. What.

It seriously looks like a game that got backported to the previous gen

The landscape sometimes reminds me of the bad looking Sims 3 worlds:

Anyone who thought you'd be able to get the quality on the right running in VR is delusional, even PC VR games mostly look like crap, have incredibly simple and cartoony styles, or are severely limited in their scope of what they show

If you think about it, it was probably a similar process
I just got the psvr two days ago , and I tried out the DriveClub VR . holy fucking shit. I swear I was playing some 2006 ps2 game lol.

That's because a lot of PC VR games are made by small indie studios, not hardware limitations. There are some PC VR titles that look absolutely stunning
