UKIP wants the Irish government to help pay for a motorway in Wales with EU funds
UKIP HAS ASKED the Welsh government to seek EU funding from the Irish government to help upgrade a motorway between London and south Wales.
The M4 motorway is the main artery between the main cities of Wales and the rest of the UK – but it also carries a large amount of Irish goods exported and sold there.
Ukip assembly member David Rowlands made the appeal to the Welsh National Assembly this afternoon. He says that Irish exporters also rely on the M4 to transport goods to other EU countries on the continent – and told TheJournal.ie that it is “quite a reasonable idea to explore”.
Rowlands – one of seven Ukip representatives in the Welsh National Assembly – asked Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones today to seek Ireland’s help in rebuilding the motorway, using EU transport funds.
“First Minister, given that a large proportion of all Irish exports, both to the UK and the EU, pass along the M4 motorway,” Rowlands began – before halting to read the question posed on the order of business.
I mean yeah it's relatively important to us lads but JASUS we don't owe ya anything.
Yeah because Ireland is going to use their EU money to help the Welsh
Maybe if we didn't vote a certain way in a certain referendum
LOL hell no.The money belongs to Ireland and they don't have the obligation to fund the said motorway the UKIP wants them to help pay.And besides, those are EU funds, what the hell are they thinking?
whoopsie, looks like you could have done with that eu funding after all.
morons.
We're going to build a motorway, and Ireland's going to pay for it!
Are these guys so deluded/stupid that they believe that it doesn't count as getting help from EU if they use Ireland as the middle man?

The argument was that because our trade uses the motorway a lot we should play a part in maintaining it.
I wonder if they realise that trade is in danger because of Brexit...
They wanted to get a few more crackers in before 2016 is over and everyone goes back to being sensible again. On 1st Jan 2017 May will announce Brexit was a social experiment and Trump will say the election was just a prank gone wrong (gone sexual).
Atleast we can still use some of that £300m we were promised, oh wait we're already losing that (and more) thanks to our shitty currency exchange.
The irish government should use that money to make a new way of transporting their goods to the mainland. Would probably benefit them in the long run, because they wouldnt need to transport their goods OUT of the EU to get them IN. Let the UK deal with their own decisions.

I wonder if this is what pretending to be retarded looks like or is it genuine?
ignoring abject reality is the new norm for politics, after all logic is so damn inconvieniant and facts are all made up by liberal scientists using liberal scientific methods and anyone who disagrees is a socialist!

So the exit is already causing problems?
Lovely.
I would love if they built a massive motorway bridge from Dublin to UK mainland.
That would be definetely a road I enjoy.
But this? no ty.
woops i posted that in the wrong thread, oh well!

Is that actually feasible or possible? Would it not take a ridiculously long time to go by bridge?

It's only 20 miles between the 2 landmasses, realitically that's a half hour drive at most if it has the national speed limit. Is it feasible to build? If it's just a case of distance then yeah it is (China has proved it possible with one that's like 27 miles long)
Like most things, It's the cost that stops it, same with a tunnel.
Wankers. I'm glad that our government pretty much laughed it off.

We have a pretty good relationship with Ireland so I doubt we'd allow dumb shit like this to pass.

i think you'll find that money is going towards the NHS
and farmers
and fishermen
and our councils
and the army/navy/raf
and .. uh
actually we don't know where it'll be going, how much will be going or if it even existed in the first place, but trust me when i say it'll be worth it
