Kind of a hard topic to name, but the question here mainly is, how easy is it for you to transition between music genres? Can you only listen to one genre at a time, or can you go from Classical to Black Metal in a heartbeat?
Me, I can go from Renard to The Beatles to Judas Priest to Bob Dylan to Justice all within 10 minutes, if I so choose to, I can't just stick with one genre exclusively.
Anyone else the same, or different?
Yeah, as long as I like them, I can change between songs from completely different genres easily.
I think most people can listen to different songs from different genres right after each other as long as they like them. If you like it, it doesn't matter the genre.. The only thing that may influence is your mood.
See above.
I don't have any issues at all switching from Weird Al's "Amish Paradise" to Necrophagist's "Stabwound," because I love Weird Al and can tolerate Necrophagist.
:colbert:
It depends a little on the mood I'm in, but sometimes I'll be listening to music and switch from death metal to something like The Fratellis and think 'Wow that's kind of a weird change'
One time I listened to a whole Agorpaphobic Nosebleed album, followed by Boston, then Origin, then Rush.

Quite easily for me, there is this one song that goes from Smyphonic Black Metal into Punk into another genre :iia:
Here is the song.

I listened to Owl City for a full 2 hours once and immediately went and listened to a folk/black metal album by a Nazi band from Ukraine.
I felt so cool.
I love listening to Aphex Twins weirder stuff, and then running off to listen to, say, James Brown. It's cool.

If you're talking about regular listening, it depends on mood. But if you're talking about wanting to discover new things, then it can be very easy.
It would be unnecessary for a listening session to consist of Soul... then going straight into Drone Doom Metal for me.
"Oh what's that? Cypress Hill is done playing? Put on Pantera then!"
For me it depends if it's good (imo) or not, mostly.
But yeah I think so.

That isn't really the point. You are suggesting a genre of music can be bad, elaborate.
I go from post rock to punk in a second, sure. it's no big deal

Could you go from Post Rock to Reggae though. :smug:
I go from Symphonic Black Metal to Hip-Hop in 0.05ns :c00lbutt:
it depends on my mood
if I'm in an angry mood, going from death metal/deathcore to a slowly tempoed Bach piece isn't going to work exactly
if I'm just listening to music like any other day and there's no significant "mood" standing out above other emotions, then the above example would be just fine

Well what I meant is that I can pretty much switch to any genre without trouble, as long as I like the artist/type of song.
It all comes down to whether I like that artist/group and think they are good, or not, rather than what genre it is.

Fair enough, more about mood for me.
However it isn't as simple as "Happy", "Sad" or "Angry". If I feel like I need to explore then I'll throw anything "different" on... if I feel like I want to imagine being high, I throw a psychedelic album on.
