Hamas and Fatah split violently in 2007. Previous reconciliation agreements have never been implemented. The deal comes amid troubled peace talks between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-27146734
Israel has suspended peace talks with the Palestinians in response to a unity deal between Hamas and Fatah. The decision came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a six-hour meeting of Israel's security cabinet. The Palestinian factions announced the reconciliation deal on Wednesday, saying they will try to form a unity government in the coming weeks. Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday that the move made a peace agreement "impossible."
Israel is so hilariously childish with their political actions and talk. They do it because they can though. They hold the power so they are assholes.
Nooo now Israel can't use the division of Palestinian governance as reason to oppose Palestinian statehood. For those unaware, Israel helped create Hamas 30 years ago. The reason, they wanted a religious party to counterbalance the secular nationalists (PLO) and create strife/division between Palestinians. Now that they are reconciling (which would only mean that Fatah would slowly Westernize Fatah), Israel is pissed.
Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said Thursday that the move made a peace agreement "impossible."
The Israelis say that to everything. Mahmoud Abbas farting in the comfort of his own home would surely make peace impossible at this rate.
Does this mean that the Gaza Strip and West Bank are now both governed by the same government?

We have therefore restricted the flow of all goods into the area and also launched a small campain to [del]occupy the area[/del] destroy the production facilities"
