When Dinosaurs ruled the Earth

Released in 1993, Jurassic Park was based on the novel of the same name by the late Michael Crichton. It follows the disaster of what happens when a new, technologically advanced theme park with living dinosaurs as the attractions breaks down in the worst possible sense, with the "attractions" breaking free and roaming the park.
The sequel released in 1997, The Lost World (also based on a novel by Michael Crichton), follows the story of an expedition to Jurassic Park's second island, Site B, where dinosaurs destined for the main park are born and bred free in the wild.
I'm not going to mention the travesty that is Jurassic Park 3. That shit SUCKS.

Director: Steven Spielberg
Writer: Michael Crichton
Starring:
Sam Neil
Laura Dern
Jeff Goldblum
The film received two Academy Awards.
My opinion: One of my favourite films of all time. It's amazing that the special effects still look brilliant after 17 years. John Williams' soundtrack is one of the best of any film ever - the theme is incredible.

Director: Steven Spielberg
Writer: Michael Crichton
Starring:
Jeff Goldblum
Julianne Moore
Pete Postlethwaite
The film was nominated for a single Academy Award.
My opinion: It doesn't keep as close to the source material and suffers for it somewhat. Not as good as the original film but still worth seeing.

Supposedly, a Jurassic Park 4 is in the making although there is little information on it. Hopefully it won't suck as bad as the third film.

Best Dinosaur related movie of all time.
Jurassic park is a fucking classic.
Guess i should probably watch this sometime..
The second one is my favourite, because it's more "Humans vs Dinosaurs". The third was crap though.
Jurassic Park is definitely one of the best movies ever made.
I love Jurassic Park, haven't seen them in a while. I might do it, I think they're around here somewhere.

I second this i remember watching it so many times when i was younger.
Great movie. I love it. In my opinion it has a certain thrill because it is sort of a realistic setup - compared to most movies today, that is.
#1 is seriously the greatest movie. like legit.
How CGI still looks worse today is a mystery to me. One would have assumed an improvement rather than a deterioation. Maybe it's because the people doing CG for movies back then all had to be certified geniuses and the people doing CG today are gamers who took a course in 3DsMax.

Cause Micheal Chriction was a real sci-fi author and modern screenplays are written by a room of butts farting stupid ideas.
When I was a kid, I watched this movie EVERY DAY. The scene with the T-Rex attacking the cars was sooooo ahead of its time.

i remember reading a really good reason why somewhere
and it was like since CGI was such a new technology that, since no one was using it, they were putting a whole ton of effort into it
nowadays CGI is more slapdash, deadlines say that you gotta just get it done, dont bother so much with making it look good
and also the lighting helps a lot, and also its because its still half animatronics which still are better no matter what.
#3 is such complete shit :|
The main theme music gives me goosebumps, it is that incredible.
The movie is good but It's nothing like the novel.

Goosebumps ahoy!
This movie has inspired me more than most. I never get tired of it and will never pass up an opportunity to watch it. I absolutely love Jurassic Park.
Absolutely loved this film. Still do. Always will.
Apparently they are working on a fourth one?

"In November 2009, Joe Johnston discussed the possibility of Jurassic Park IV, stating that the story for the film is completely different from that of its predecessors and would take the franchise into a whole other trilogy." He also added, “Jurassic Park 4 is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen.”
God dammit he better not fuck it up. At least it's still got the original actors and producers.
I loved the Lost World. Primarily because Jeff Goldblum was the main character. The final scene with the T-Rex in the city was also really awesome, giving you the whole "dinosaurs interacting with modern time" thing.
Jurassic Park will always have a special place in my heart.
When I was a kid I used to watch JP more than once everyday :3:
[editline]10:35PM[/editline]
Also I thought they weren't going to do JP4 because it would be disrespectful after Michael Crichton died?
For the better, it would have been more from the same guy who barfed up JP3.
We need more dinosaur movies like this.
It's such a shame Crichton has died. I read his last book, Next, and it was damn awesome. I would love to see more Michael Crichton films - Prey would make a great film.
I was like 12 when this came out. Watched it 3 times in cinema and dozens of times at home. I was obsessed with dinosaurs and i had all the Jurassic Park toys and posters. Good times! Still is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Goosebumps too, absolutely amazing soundtracks in that movie. John Williams is a legend.
Dinosaurs are awesome.
The one instance when the movie was better than the novel. (Except for the second instance where the sequel to this movie was better than the sequel to the novel)
The movie is good but It's nothing like the novel.
shut up.
