A Laurel County couple pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that they traded their truck for a baby. Husband and wife Jeremy and Jamiee Brown are accused of trading their 1999 Dodge Dakota pickup truck from the mother of a newborn baby boy, Heather Kaminsky. "It sounds outlandish; it really does," admits Lt. Rodney Van Zant of the Laurel County Sheriff's Department. Investigators say Kaminskey, a 30-year-old from Corbin, is also wanted on methamphatimine charges. Deputies say she was living in Florida, and Social Services there had already taken two children from her. "She fled to Kentucky to have the child and avoid that child being taken by Social Services," says Lt. Van Zant. Investigators say the trade happened in January, not long after Kaminsky gave birth. Since then, the baby boy, now six-months-old, was allegedly being raised at Kaminsky's childhood friend Jaimee Brown's home with Jamiee's husband Jeremy, and their three children. "I honestly believe they had the best intentions," says Lt. Van Zant. "But the way they went about it was the wrong way." Investigators say Kaminsky eventually sold the truck for $800 and some meth. The Browns face human trafficking charges and possibly up to 20 years in jail if convicted. Investigators say the baby boy shows no signs of abuse, and is with Social Services. Authorities are working with Florida police to find Kaminsky, who will also face a human trafficking of a victim under the age of 18 charge.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/48175169/ Also it isn't surprising that this happened in Kentucky :v:
Best mom ever. :downs:
That title. :v:
"It sounds outlandish; it really does," admits Lt. Rodney Van Zant of the Laurel County Sheriff's Department.
cept methheads trying to sell their methbabies happens all the time
who would actually ACCEPT a kid
who would actually ACCEPT a kid
I would, the resale value of children is pretty high.
who would actually ACCEPT a kid
thats the most worrying part what would the people trading a whole truck for a baby even want with one? if they want a child, there are plenty of better ways to get one. if they want to 'save' the baby, they know to call the police i jumped right to suspecting some shit like baby stew

I wouldn't be surprised if she would proceed to give kid the meth.
The winner of this deal? The guy that bought the truck for 800$, nothing better than lowballin' a junkie.
I only came in here because of the title. Nope. Story matches. Bye folks.
People like this are the reason we need forced sterilization.
I hope the agrees are sarcastic and I'm stupid, but I really don't think we should start sterilizing people because of a few bad eggs. They'll just kill or steal or something else in order to obtain meth.
we r all human bengs and are deservd to have lived not soled for mef
That's not the point, sterilization would prevent kids being born in drug addict families.
Uhm, that is the point. If they knew they were a drug addict family they would've either taken the child away or placed the people in jail before they had a child. The only way they could've found out is by taking a complete risk and doing a complete human rights violation or saying "fuck you" to human rights and searching tons of people's houses and cars without warrants. Sterilizing people in general is a horrible idea and could only lead to misuse.
I would, the resale value of children is pretty high.
Gently used child, contents are scratch free! Near mint condition, does not include original box. $400 OBO
I don't see a problem... In fact it was a smart decision on the sellers part, the market for babies just isn't what it used to be. They also take up alot of real estate.
A fair trade.
No I'm sure the kid was worth a lot more than the $800 they sold it for. But that's what they get for being junkes V:v:V

Fuck, some day, they'll succeed.
What is the exchange rate between babies and meth?
I bet she didnt even get a good deal on it
Title is waaaay off from the article. Poor kid.
This is worse than that one Little Britain sketch where Vicky Pollard traded her baby for a Westlife CD. Even moreso since the truck-for-baby trade was real, as opposed to a tongue-in-cheek show with Matt Lucas and David Walliams.
To be fair, she traded the child for a truck, and then sold the truck for meth.
Really? Only 800 dollars? The midwives sold me to my parents for several thousand dollars.
Really? Only 800 dollars? The midwives sold me to my parents for several thousand dollars.
i bet they feel ripped off now.
