Speaking at a UN human rights conference in Geneva, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Libya's Col Muammar Gaddafi must "go now".
The EU on Monday imposed sanctions including an arms embargo, asset freeze and travel ban on Libyan authorities, including Col Gaddafi.
Tens of thousands of migrants - many from Egypt - are stranded near Libya's Tunisian border, UN officials say.
Unrest continues in and around Tripoli, with a demonstration against Col Gaddafi in the capital's suburb of Tajoura, with protesters chanting: "The blood of martyrs won't go to waste." Gaddafi supporters have reportedly tried to break up the protest by firing into the air.
And reports from the coastal town of Misrata say Col Gaddafi's opponents have repelled a government counter-attack.
Witnesses said fighting had been taking place around the town, 200km east of Tripoli, and its airport.
That would be the easy way out for him. He doesnt deserve that. He deserves to rot in prison for his crimes against his people and humanity.

Hypocrite
so, the World agrees against one enemy?
then the whole World "has the right" to free the people?
wait a minute, this couldn't evolve into a World War, can it?

Why would it evolve into a world war? The only thing that could happen is that all the revolting countries get new leaders and democracy, like they wanted, and Gaddafi gets thrown out/killed.
gaddafi pls go
UN: 'gaddafi pls go'
gaddafi: 'no'
UN: ' :( we tried'
fuk u beat me 2 it

ah, nice :)
sorry but my mind is vulnerable to conspiracy theorists (not theories!) some times, so i get afraid easily.
especially in greece, where there are many, MANY prophecies about the future war with turkey, so we're always on the edge.
i hope you're right dude lol!

As do I friend. I used to be like that once, until the things I was so afraid of never happened. Ever.
Unfortunately despite UN sanctions, Gaddafi will still receive support from sympathetic countries. And UN sanctions ultimately hurt the people as much as the administration of Libya.

This is the main problem with sanctions IMO, they are not a short term thing. The effect of them will last for ages and only effect the people, they will have no effect on the regime at all.
Take a look at the sanctions placed on Iraq after the first gulf war for an example of this.

The people will always suffer first, dictators will have no qualms about passing the costs of sanctions onto their people.
Only when the country is virtually dead economically is there an impact on the regime (that one article about Kimmy giving loyal party members fake designer goods instead of real ones that he used do)
Am I the only person who expected the article to say "My planet needs me" after reading the title?
