If a vehicle is in an accident, emergency responders must be able to shut down the high voltage system in order to prevent possible electrical injury. Modern Formula 1 cars with hybrid systems have a similar feature. The access point on a Tesla happens to be under the frunk, so there has to be a way to access it

the Tesla Model X's owner's manual doesn't say anything about the frunk release, nor does it give a warning about storing valuables inside.
Why not just have the lock disable in a high G instance (such as a crash) ?
Car locks are far from easy to bypass as they often have two sets of pins in them (for instance house locks have one set). Cars are easy to get into via other tools, such as an inflation device and a long rod. This takes a little time though
I mean it is still connected to the alarm.
A thief that doesn't care about setting off the alarm probably doesn't care if he opens it that way or bust a lock/window to get in.
I agree that Tesla might want to inform their customers about it, thats a pretty big oversight if it is not even mentioned in the manual.
Wow, people are trying really hard to crash Tesla stock prices huh.
Almost any expensive car with electric door or hood locks has this feature.
Also, why does Tesla have to tell you not to be an idiot and leave valuables in your car?? That should be common sense. If this was just a POS regular car it'd be the same thing!

because then retards could probably sue them since it didn't tell them not to leave valuables in the car
it seems way to easy to access, maybe it was meant to be an alternative way to open the trunk just executed in the poorest way possible.
1994 Viper also has this.
As a first responder myself, we have more than enough tools to get trunk cover up and off safely. Most of our guys won't even know/have the time to open up that little panel there and pull. I'd rather get a halligan or just use the spreaders.
That said, I agree it looks pretty easy to access.

This is major flaw in design though. Tesla actually fucked up this time, and if their stock prices fall because of it, well too bad for them.
'Frunk' is my word of the day today.
meh, you can open the hood of my jeep wrangler from the outside, anybody's free to check out my engine

"Major" is stretching it imo. It's a trunk, not a vault. Someone could just as easily jack it open with a crowbar I bet.
Sorry but I find this kinda a non-issue.
A good few cars have external releases like the Tesla and are hidden in a similar fashion.
Plus honestly, if you're gonna leave something of value in the car, you just shouldn't, with the case of the Tesla if you don't trust the frunk to be secure it, putting it anywhere else in the vehicle wont be anymore secure.
Honestly a vehicles trunk/frunk/boot is only there as a temporary storage compartment, you don't keep valuables in it, at most its for keeping your usual tools that you might need if you breakdown but other than that you should never keep anything inside the vehicle that has value.
When I locked my keys in my car the locksmith had it open in about 30 seconds

You can gain access to my brothers series Land Rover by sliding the window open and stuck my arm through to open the door.

except in this case this is a storage compartment
Who's paying for these massive defamation campaigns anyway

So they can steal your laundry instead of ripping your engine to shreds?

Milo obviously
iirc you can open the boot of a few BMWs by drilling a hole in a specific place then release the latch.
If someone is determined enough to get in something they will find a way.
Tesla warns you not to keep valuables in the frunk during delivery. It's that way so you can easily get in and cut the high voltage connection quickly.

That's actually the case with many car doors, you just know where to specifically drill and poke in with a long plier.
But being able to bust in quickly with only a flathead screwdriver is P.bad.
What a ridiculous video that it takes 11 minutes to get to the actual point of it

Not to mention the title is "Tesla's Insane Security Flaw" when the fucking car alarm goes off and you need a screwdriver.

Its Salomondrin, guy is a complete douchebag.
So they can steal your laundry instead of ripping your engine to shreds?
Yeah but engine-destroying maniacs are way less common than thieves.
Oh no, they're going to set my alarm off and steal the tire changing kit and/or maybe a blanket! My valuables aren't secure in this traditionally insecure space!
If someone's going to break into a car and set the alarm off they're jacking your stereo, not your fucking tire changing kit. If you keep valuables in the boot of the car/in the car at all you're a fucking retard and tbh your shit getting stolen is a valuable lesson in that.
I agree with all of you but I would not want someone to have ease of access to my subwoofers and amp...
You can get into any car's trunk just as fast if not even faster by simply busting the driver side window (which is really fast and easy if you know what youre doing) and pulling the lever that opens the trunk.
