Just to add to it, here is a hour long interview with Richard Garriott

This is one of the few MMO's that actually held my interest for more than a few hours, I kinda sorta miss it.
My dad had that background for about 3 years. Always made me uncomfortable.
I loved this game though, everything about it was dope except for my father always playing as skimpy women characters.

half nekked

Half naked Richard Garriott?
Was a good game, defending those outposts with other people against swarms of mobs had a Starship Troopers sort of vibe to it, too
I did quite like the game but never got that far into it, felt kind of slow to progress through. Regardless it's always sad to see a game in a state of almost no recovery, so much work just gone.

Richard Garriott is also an interesting figure, hes a living legend amongst RPG fans and it's nice to hear directly from him what happened with TR

let me guess, he said the same thing every 45 year old MMO player says when they're playing as a chick.
"if im going to stare at an ass for hours im going to make sure it's female"

It's hilarious because that is word for word what my father says. Literally word for word.
How ARE you supposed to end an MMO's story anyway?

Can't stare at a man's butt, someone might think you're gay.

World Events like Guild Wars did. Basically in the game you have one massive main arc aka the main quests and besides those you have world events that everyone can join, usually the outcome of said mission changes the story or the world. Like in GW 2 there was a battle going on about a city and the city lost, the city got destroyed after it but it could have been saved.
Now at the end of the lifecycle of the MMO you just trigger the final world event
