A few months ago at Google I/O, Google demoed Android apps running on Chrome OS. Today, Google is making that demo a reality by launching "App Runtime for Chrome (Beta)."
Google is not opening the floodgates and loading a full Play Store with every Chromebook; instead, it is manually bringing over certain apps. "Over the coming months, we’ll be working with a select group of Android developers to add more of your favorite apps so you’ll have a more seamless experience across your Android phone and Chromebook," the company said in its announcement.
For now, the feature is launching with four compatible apps: Duolingo, Evernote, Sight Words, and Vine. One app not mentioned was Flipboard, which was demoed at I/O.
I need snapchat on my netbook

Why do they have to make ChromeOS look like Windows with the non centered dock icons?

conformity, one of the most important design principles ever
Not particularly surprising, considering the fact that Android apps run in a virtual machine on the phones regardless.

I might change the OS on my netbook to Chrome.

I'd wait at least a couple of months until the android thing is an established feature. I had a chromebook for a while and it's literally just a shell for google chrome, the only bonus being that it has a file browser.
what sorcery is this
aww yeah vine is installing right now lets see how well this works
edit -
audio seems kinda laggy and I cannot figure out how to change the window size (it's stuck pretty small)
but beyond that this is pretty nifty

Probably because it's an aproach that works better since it works better in regards to muscle memory.
does this mean I will be able to play GTA on my chromebook?
Eventually I mean
Hope they expand this feature to Windows and mac. Bluestacks is alright but now you got to pay for it and you get these annoying ads that tell you because you haven't paid, you must install one of these apps instead, so fucking annoying.
But man, facebook chatheads on Windows would be amazing

bluestacks never actually installs the apps for me
This is the same concept that Windows 8 does that everyone thought was stupid: tablet apps on a PC OS. Key edge they have here, though, is that they run in windows, which 8 didn't do, yet.

Try genymotion. You can emulate the specs of any phone.
