• Suggestions for Music

I know, I know, there's already a thread dedicated to exactly this task, but I don't just ask for one or two groups and fuck off, I go all out. It's hard to keep track of suggested music when its also filled with suggestions for other people and everyone's concentration is sort of splintered between twenty others also asking for things. I make a list and keep it updated as to what I'm listening to, and I bold anything that's been added as a result of this thread in the long-run. I've made a thread like this in the past, a few years ago, but when my laptop fried and I lost all my music, I wasn't able to get all of my bands back. I'm looking to expand again. So, without further ado, this is what I listen to so far;

30 Seconds to Mars
A Perfect Circle
Afrojack
Alanis Morissette
Alexisonfire
Arcade Fire
Audioslave
Band of Horses
Billy Talent
Black Lab
Blind-182
Breaking Benjamin
Broken Bells
Bullet For My Valentine
Cage the Elephant
Cake
Chevelle
Coheed and Cambria
Coldplay
Counting Crows
Cowboy Bebop OST's (Seatbelts, Yoko Kanno, etc.)
Creed
Creedence Clearwater Revival (C.C.R.)
Daft Punk
Danzig
Deadmau5
Default
Delphic
Depeche Mode
Disturbed
Edward Shapre & The Magnetic Zeros
Eric Clapton
Evans Blue
Explosions in the Sky
Faith No More
Feindflug
Finger Eleven
Flogging Molly
Flyleaf
Foo Fighters
Gorillaz
Green Day
Grizzly Bear
Iced Earth
INCUBUS
Interpol
Jimmy Eat World
Jon Lee Hooker
Kanye West
Kid Cudi
Kings of Leon
Linkin Park
Live
Massive Attack
Matchbox 20
Metal Gear Solid OST's
Metric
Muddy Waters
Muse
Neverending White Lights
Nickelback
Nightwish
Nine Inch Nails
Our Lady Peace
Paramore
Phoenix
Pilate/Pilot Speed
Pink Floyd
Poets of the Fall
Porcupine Tree
Queens of the Stone Age
Radiohead
Rage Against the Machine
Rammstein
Red Hot Chili Peppers
R.E.M.
Rise Against
Sam Roberts
Saosin
Seether
Slayer
Soundgarden
Staind
Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble
Stone Temple Pilots
System of a Down
The Airborne Toxic Event
The Doors
The Offspring
The Trews
Theory of a Deadman
Tool
Tori Amos
TV on the Radio
U2
VNV Nation
Within Tempation
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Yellowcard
You Me At Six
For the most part, popular music is a no-no for me. I listen to a lot of Indie Bands but this isn't due to a massive aversion to mainstream society or anything; They just have a habit of actually being good. I give everything a fair listen, and the only two genres I am guaranteed not to enjoy is gangster rap and country music. If I only like one or two songs from a band, I don't bother with collecting them, since it isn't worth the trouble of getting my hands on a whole CD just for that one tune.
You seriously couldn't look 5 threads down? http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1094974-The-quot-Suggest-me-some-music-quot-thread-V2
For the most part, popular music is a no-no for me.
Half the bands you listed there are popular as fuck.

[editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
Half the bands you listed there are popular as fuck.
I tend to consider popular music as radio music, but yeah, good point. Guess I should reword that.
I tend to consider popular music as radio music, but yeah, good point. Guess I should reword that.
Half the bands you listed there get plenty of radioplay as well. Nickelback, U2, Green Day etc.
You seriously couldn't read the first sentence? Get the fuck out. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline] I tend to consider popular music as radio music, but yeah, good point. Yo, each one of those fits under a different genre. That's like finding a needle in a haystack.
Yo, each one of those fits under a different genre. That's like finding a needle in a haystack.
Thats my point, so suggest anything. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
Half the bands you listed there get plenty of radioplay as well. Nickelback, U2, Green Day etc.
Half of? Thats a stretch at best. Some get radio play on specialty stations. They don't make Hot 100 lists. Thats what I call popular music. Edit - And actually in regards to Green Day, I only have pre-American Idiot material from them. They turned into political poster boys and it really just sort of irks me.
You seriously couldn't read the first sentence? Get the fuck out.
So you made a new, useless thread just because you want more attention?
I tend to consider popular music as radio music, but yeah, good point. Guess I should reword that.
You obviously don't listen to the radio then. Also I guess I'm sorry the regular suggestion threads aren't good enough for you >: But uh, here. Have Feeder.
Half of? Thats a stretch at best. Some get radio play on specialty stations. They don't make Hot 100 lists. Thats what I call popular music.
No I'm pretty sure it's a good half. Popular music is music that's well-known by most people. Most people know a good chunk of these artists.
So you made a new, useless thread just because you want more attention?
And because posting in the actual thread would do incredibly little for me, so why bother otherwise? I've already explained myself. If you just want to cartwheel in here and flail your cock around and show how much of a douchebag you can be about it, then you're obviously not doing much to provide in regards to what I'm hoping to get here.
So you made a new, useless thread just because you want more attention?
He has such a wonderful taste in music that he has to have a new thread all to himself.
And since you like anime, maybe you've watched Eden of the East? If so, you might recognise Oasis from the OP. And more Oasis:

And if you ask people to recommend ANYTHING to you, why not just go to youtube and listen to random music?
I'm on the side of not caring and just recommending him stuff anyway.
Here guys, you can be assholes about rules that don't exist, or you can just not bother yourselves with this at all. It's entirely up to you, though! Don't let a little rebel slayer like me, making crazy, revolutionary new threads against the norm stop you. And I've listened to Oasis before, they have never hooked me for some reason. I've grinding out some Feeder now, though. Interesting video . . . ? Good music though.

There is a reason its there and you should use it.
"Why should I piss in the toilet when I can just piss on the floor?" There is a reason its there and you should use it.
Why piss in the toilet when I can use the urinal? You done?
Why not just go make a new thread for every post you make. If you arent going to use megathreads, why use threads at all?
Why not just go make a new thread for every post you make. If you arent going to use megathreads, why use threads at all?
Because the Megathread doesn't serve my purpose in the least. You're somehow comparing apples and oranges just because they're in the same basket.
And I've listened to Oasis before, they have never hooked me for some reason. I've grinding out some Feeder now, though. Interesting video . . . ? Good music though.
lol, honestly no idea what the video is, I never even watched it. Was just first thing that came up in search results. Also you should totally get Last.fm radio on the go and find similar artists and whatnot. Good way to find new music. Also Explosions In The Sky going on that I'm throwing God Is An Astronaut at you. And There Will Be Fireworks, why not.
Because the Megathread doesn't serve my purpose in the least. You're somehow comparing apples and oranges just because they're in the same basket.
You want people to give you recommendations for music that you like. The megathread is for people who want other people to give them recommendations for music that they like. Yup, completely different!
Also you should totally get Last.fm radio on the go and find similar artists and whatnot. Good way to find new music.
I used to have it, it isn't free in Canada as of two or three years ago. It was a good way to find new artists, but I listen to the songs first before pulling tracks out of thin air. It's happened before where all the genre tags are the exact same and in the end the band in question is a whole lot different or they only really have three or four songs in that style (Goo Goo Dolls comes to mind). I had forgotten about God is an Astronaut, thanks. Hashing out There Will be Fireworks now. [editline]11th June 2011[/editline]
You want people to give you recommendations for music that you like. The megathread is for people who want other people to give them recommendations for music that they like. Yup, completely different!
"Hey, recommend me something like this song!" or "Give me music from this genre!" is what's in there. I may as well go in there and post "Give me music!" and suddenly be shocked when everybody tells me its too vague to work with. I keep straight track of what's to my tastes instead of going back every thirty minutes to post another, single band and having to shift through the thread's other suggestions as a result. No, I don't think I'm special. No, I don't think I'm an exception. But nothing stops me from posting a new thread to make things a whole lot easier for me, and I never really frequent these forums more than once or twice a day otherwise.
this thread which side do I take
"Hey, recommend me something like this song!" or "Give me music from this genre!" is what's in there.
this thread which side do I take
Hey, even I see logic to Hakita's shit, but I just can't give a fuck. This is a forum, not a stringent concentration camp. (I only made that comparison to strike Godwin's Law first since why not.)
No, I don't think I'm special. No, I don't think I'm an exception.
yes you do.
What is Godwin's Law I am just a simple music forum regular I know nothing Hope you like TWBF, (I kind of felt they were a bit of a longshot idk). Also, Maybeshewill you might like. (or maybeyouwont!!!)
