The question that needs to be asked in lieu of critiquing one's poetry is first and fore-most:
What do you wish to accomplish with it?
Well, I've been thinking on that question since you posted it and I do not know an honest answer yet. I had almost never used my poetic voice until this very last semester (beginning in January) and what amazes me is the sobriety of thought that come from writing in fixed or free verse.
I would love to be an author who's works people read, but I don't think we live in the society that will value poetry. The biggest value I find in my work is the idea of people reading it and seeing the world or a specific problem from a slightly different perspective.
I like covering current events (like war) and my own personal life, but right now I am searching for a direction.
