Myanmar's government has called for calm after mobs burned down a Muslim orphanage, a mosque and shops during a new eruption of religious violence in the northeastern Shan state. At least one person has died and four others were injured, state television said. Authorities imposed a curfew late on Tuesday in Lashio, about 700km northeast of Yangon, after a mob of 200 local residents surrounded a local police station demanding they hand over a Muslim detainee. Nay Win, 48, a Muslim from a nearby township, was arrested after allegedly setting fire to Aye Aye Win, 24, a Shan Buddhist, earlier in the day after the two had an altercation at a petrol station, Lashio police said. The woman was admitted to hospital.
http://www.aljazeera.com/news/asia-pacific/2013/05/201352952410553862.html
"Sectarian violence" is a very understating way to put it. What's going on in Myanmar is state-sanctioned genocide.
I would have thought the junta would have actually done something about it
Religion of peaaace
Oh common Buddhist, I though you were the one religion that wasn't wrecking shit.
Oh common Buddhist, I though you were the one religion that wasn't wrecking shit.
People only think that who have never actually bothered to look at the history of Buddhism.
I thought Buddhism was like that episode of the Simpsons where they chilled in a temple and raked sand.
What the hell buddhists. "Pacifism".
All of this and they're only imposing curfew? The conflicts going on between both sides is enough to warrant military intervention to get peace restored. What the hell is the Burmese government doing.
see
"Sectarian violence" is a very understating way to put it. These people aren't true Buddhists in any regard whatsoever, and I hope people don't regard them as an accurate representation of the group.
Religion of peaaace
Generally that term is used sarcastically to deride Islam so apologies if I'm reading too much into your post but Muslims were the victims in this specific event
These people aren't true Buddhists.
Why? Its pretty widespread in parts of Asia for Buddhists to act like this.
Generally that term is used sarcastically to deride Islam so apologies if I'm reading too much into your post but Muslims were the victims in this specific event
thats the joke
These people aren't true Buddhists in any regard whatsoever, and I hope people don't regard them as an accurate representation of the group.
Did you just do what I did?
These people aren't true Buddhists in any regard whatsoever, and I hope people don't regard them as an accurate representation of the group.
the same can be said of every major religion and their corresponding extremists, but that won't stop people from being disillusioned folks who'll hold grudges and further the incessant hatred between human beings
What the hell buddhists. "Pacifism".
Yep all Buddhists are now arsonist murderers. every. single. one.
Damn Burmese. If only they used the metric system.
wait what oh shit That's just a spot revolting.
Did you even read? A muslim started it by setting fire to a buddist.
So they set fire to a fucking orphanage?
Did you even read? A muslim started it by setting fire to a buddist.
How does that make muslims not the victims? A Muslim started the april 30th incident by bumping into a monk and breaking a begging bowl according to the article.
People voting 'winner' have no idea about the scale of these atrocities happening in Burma right now!
holy shit
All of this and they're only imposing curfew? The conflicts going on between both sides is enough to warrant military intervention to get peace restored. What the hell is the Burmese government doing.
It's just a plan to impose things that will not work deliberately, i doubt Myanmar government is not Islamophobe

There's shit in the Bible and Quran about stoning people/other acts of violence, but Buddhism is strictly against violence.
Buddhists of all people should know violence doesn't solve anything...
This individual person burned down one of our people, we should blame everyone of his religion, that sounds comepletely fair!
to be fair, there is only one religion in the planet that defends non-violence to the point that is literally impossible to break its rules and its jainism, an jainist extremist will refuse to eat some kinds of root vegetables for fear of killing anything when pulling it from the ground lol. they also consider harsh words to be a form of violence.
