Preaching a hate filled gospel so obnoxious most Christians reject their teaching, the Westboro Baptist Church is an anti-gay Christian fundamentalist church notorious for its "God Hates Fags" signs and the picketing of soldiers’ funerals. In addition to the release of personal information belonging to the church, Anonymous is also promoting a petition at whitehouse.gov asking the Obama administration to legally recognize the Westboro Baptist Church as a hate group. They don't advocate for the death of a class of people nor for harm to come to them- they just celebrate it. Celebration is not advocation, and what they say legally isn't hate speech either. Even if it were, hate speech isn't illegal in the US either. Essentially, they aren't doing anything wrong legally, which is why they've become successful lawyers and even represented themselves and won at the Supreme Court. That doesn't make it right, though.
